*Looks around room* Hmmm...
Actually, I have this whole house to myself! Yay! Well, my brother is here, but he lives in his own trailer in the backyard and only comes in for food and stuff... my parents just left for their retirement property, and will be gone until after Christmas, and will only be coming back for short visits!
I'm going to start being charged rent in January.
But... my domain, my sanctuary... is my bedroom. Please excuse the mess... I'll give you a tour of some of the unique features.
That thing with the dissarryed blankets and the gray cat sleeping on it is my bed. On the west wall above it, you'll notice several items of art. Above the head/pillow area is a large Lord of the Rings poster of the Hobbits hiding from a mounted Ringwraith. I love Ringwraiths.. they're one of my "things"... so yeah, I saw it and had to get it... a friend bought it for me... It is the only item on this wall that is not an artwork done by me.
I'm sure you notice a collection of my odd "peaceable kingdom" paintings... anyway, that's what an art teacher in college called them when she saw them... I did a series of paintings while in the last year or so of High School and my early years of community college - on my own, mind you, not for classes, just for fun, of very strange animals in idyllic scenes. I have a few of these paintings scanned and posted to the first webiste in my sig (Higher Rhlem, my art site) if anyone wants to get a better idea of what I'm talking about. Thes paintings have things like purple lions and winged tigers in them... and a reccuring creature that I'm not sure how to describe beyond "four footed ostrich-thing". These are acrylics on canvas.
I also have, on that wall, a painting I did in high school of cheetahs, an oil painting in an Impressionst style I did of buffalo, and an acrylic on paper I stained with coffee of a still life of animal bones. I also have a few drawings on paper of creatures relating to my novel on the wall there...
Next, we come to the south wall over my bed. ANIME! In the mornings... I get to wake up to guns in my face! I have a poster of Agents aiming guns from the "A Detective Story" section of "The Animatrix" and a large Trigun wallscroll featuring Vash aiming his gun - right for you! Wolfwood is chillin' with a smoke and his cross in the background.
Then, there is my bookshelf. My 12 -inch Dark Vash figure is currently standing guard on top of it. I like to cuddle him when I sleep as if he were a teddy-bear, so he's only up there on guard duty about half the time. On top of the shelf with him are various volumes of mangas and some of my fantasy book collection. "The Ghatti's Tale" trilogy is up there, as well as "The Hobbit" and the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. There's my alarm clock and my painted Rejection Letter Box, in which I hold rejection notices I've gotten from publishers an agents thus far on proposing my novel. I also have a couple of old rusted horse bits up there... I don't know what I'm going to use them for, but I think they're neat for whatever reason. Lower shelves of my bookshelf hold more books, more mangas... I got a 2003 Writer's Market in there, and the bottom shelf holds my anime and movies! Yay! They are mostly on VHS, but I have a few DVDs now that I've got a player.
Above my bookshelf hangs my ornamental medevial/fantasy-ish dagger, a painting I used for the cover design of my novel, and a print of my cover... I designed the cover for a couple of graphic design classes, so it's no big deal, not me being uber-egoed or anything.
I happen to like how the project turned out.
Oh, there's my window and my art/drawing desk. It's a mess right now. I have a pillowcase with some halloween candy in it, a tub of carmel corn my boyfriend sent me, and an unfinished calf-skull I've been painting.
Oh, hello TV, VCR... NES console. Yep, NES... as in OLD SKOOL gaming... I've had it since I was 10... never got a system more advanced except for my little Gameboy Advance portable... You know, I feel like playing the second Zelda game.... "The Adventure of Link"... ah, them OLD original Zelda games!
Hey, my closet! It doesn't have doors anymore, but over it, in place of doors, I have hanging a large American flag. I used to have it over on the west wall above my bed (where all those paintings are now). I wuvvies my flag!
Heh, my tall mirror. I painted the frame on it gold and I have a little painting of a lion and a floral design... did that right on the glass with glass paint left over from a a project. I got suction cup thingies on it, which hold some of my jewelry... Heh... my little pewter Wolfwood cross.. that little necklace I made out of a rabbit-skull...heh....
Oh, YAY! Now you get to see my bone-shelf and bone wall! I got a shelf above my dresser (my ugly red-painted dresser I've had since I was 5 -_- ).... got some of my painted bones on it. Click the aforementioned Higher Rhlem in my sig if you wanna see 'em! I got cattle and elk sholder blades... a few calf-skulls... couple of leg bones... all painted with designs and stuff... got a plain cat skull I found and cleaned a few days ago sitting there, too... then, askew to that is a wall partially covered in more bone art - hanging on the wall!
Got my full-grown cow skull there... got my coyote skull... cow jaw... another cainine skull, my painted javelina skull, my unpainted javalina skull... unpainted skull and vertebrae section of what I think was once a skunk, my wonderful huge cow/steer pelvis (painted so that not an inch of bone color shows! And with fun desert animals and florals on it!), a couple of crosses I made out of calf leg bones and painted... ah, yes, I wuv my bones! I like... have a painted graveyard on my wall! Yay!
Oh, my computer desk and shelves.... I got Holiday Barbies on my shelves... also on the two shelves above that bone shelf... I've been receiving them as Christmas presents/collecting them since 1990. They are all in mint condition, on display, never removed from thier boxes - but, unlike most toys, they actually look good in thier boxes.. the boxes were designed to be as display cases for them. Ah, various stuffs on the shelves, too.. my two small mirrors painted with critters from my novel... my small collection of plastic big cats (two tigers and a cheetah).... my hollowed out Emu egg from when I worked at a zoo...
My computer desk with... computer stuff... Yeah, and next to my scanner is my small collection of action figures. Yes, Mulder, Scully, that is a Ringwraith. Morpheus, Neo, regular sized, normal colored Vash... go ahead and wave your guns around. Okay, Trigun mini-busts, you all get along, now! Heee... and my sparkly purple lava lamp... that's nice sometimes.
So, yeah, there's my room. Yeah, go ahead and run in fear from all my weird art, ya wimp!
