Fruits Basket book question

Postby Tenshi no Ai » Sun Apr 09, 2006 7:08 pm

No, this isn't about the actual story, but the books that Tokyopop publish (a question more for those who have most/all the volumes out so far).

So I just purchased the 4th volume and I noticed something: When I got the 1st volume, the inside covers were black and white, but when I got the 2nd and 3rd volumes, thewy were nice and coloured^^ ....but now the 4th went back to black and white v_v

...is this and ongoing trend now? I assumed the colour would continue... and I like my colour v_v

Yep. Upto the most recent volume, they all have color scans in the back and front cover. Ooooh, glossy colorfulness.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

...did your 4th volume have it too? (Just since mine didn't :/) I'm just wondering if it's one of those "limited quantities, so if you get a new copy it won't have it" type of thing :/

It could be an issue of re-prints. I know I got all of my Furubas when they were hot on the shelf, but maybe in later "editions" (technically this is still 'first' but publishing stuff is weird like that) they started adding color to the first ones.

Gotcha. Guess it's one of those disadvantages to collecting thing later on when they're released^^ Sort of like DVDs and those limited edition stuff like pencil boards they come with.

in my japanese furubas, the inside flaps are in color, in case anyone's interested.

One thing I did notice on mine too, is that the cover seems to have an extra layer of shiny gloss on it (trying to make it for lack of colour?) I'd prefer the colour pics than extra shininess v_v I also find it weird when a company like Viz changes the texture of covers... like early Kenshin volumes used to be rough and then became shiny, and seems like they are doing the same thing to Full Moon too.
