Let the pillaging begin anew

Postby CDLviking » Sun Sep 18, 2005 1:01 pm

Hi Everybody,
The viking has returned. I'd first like to apologize for my long absence. I did have access to the internet, but I didn't use it much, not even for email. I took an extended vacation this summer because it is basicly my last summer before my diocese starts assigning me to parishes and sending me to do language immersion and CPE, so I decided not to work at all and to spend most of the summer with my family. Many of them still live in Michigan, so I probably won't see much of them over the next five years. Most of my cousins are still pretty young, so we went to Disney World in Florida while they can still appreciate it.

Other highlights for my summer include the multiple going away parties for my friend and the man most responsible for introducing me to anime Dan, who is now studying in Japan (his departure date kept getting moved back, so we kept throwing him new parties), finally getting the documented growth of my beard in digital form that was promised oh so long ago, and my trip to World Youth Day.

I am so happy to finally be back. It feels as though things are finally returning to normal after a rather unusual summer. It's just not the same without you guys.

DUDE! DA VIKING X3!!!

So much happened in your absence. Um... there was... uh... uh... urm....

--Elric-kun won the 2nd Annual CAA Tournament. Then he got banned (not kidding). I guess that means Little T-chan is the winner by default.
--I got married to Windows 95-tan.

Is this the priest you told me about, Darling?

He's not a priest yet, sugar. And please don't call me Darling. You remind me too much of two aunts I have.

And not much else happened, but that's because I've been working at McEvil. It's good to have a fellow FMA (Kali/Escrima/Arnis) practitioner back. And hopefully, you can teach me the Sinawali striking pattern

So you finally married one of your multiple personalities... makes sense I guess.

I do remember learning the Sinawali, but that was before I entered seminary, and I remember little more than the basics of arnis now.

[i]Two vast and trunk-less legs of stone stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand, half sunk, a shattered visage lies. Round the decay of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare the lone and level sands stretch far away. On the pedestal these words are inscribed:

“My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!â€

You're back! Yay! *huggles CDLviking*
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.
