Why?

Recently all the boards (not this one) have been all about bashing anime, and most of them are ones I love! I try to word things in the best way possible for people who do this, but sometimes I feel like I've pushed it way to far and people get really mad at me. I'm trying not be mean to people because that is not a good thing to do, however, it is really hard to respect somebody's opinion, especially when they're really nasty when trying to make a point.
Can anybody help me out on anger management for these anime bashing people?
(I hope this doesn't sound totally pointless because I am so lost on this and need help because I'm afraid I'll eventually explode on somebody totally. So any advice would be most appreciated, I'm really sorry if this sounds like spamming by the way, that's what I'm trying to avoid.) :?:

Because they are fanboy and fangirls. Most haven't seen the anime, but they will bash it anyway. Some want to fit in and the shows that everyone else likes. They will like and the ones that say a group doesn't like, they think by bashing them will give them points from others fans.

We all have an anime that we like and don't like. But I think we should respect others and not bash what they like. If a fan ask you want you don't like this anime, then I think it's okay to tell them why you don't like it. Just don't do it in a rude way.

So any advice would be most appreciated.

Don't let it get to you is all I can say. Remember, they may not have seen the anime at all in the frist place and bash it anyway.

Trying to reason with people like that, doesn't any good. You will just be talking to a brick wall.

I think the best way to make a point is just to be calm and adult about it. I've noticed that nothing bothers flame throwers more than you refusing to let their comments burn you. Simply explain that saying "I hate anime" is about as illogical as saying "I hate movies" or "I hate books." Generalizing about any medium of story telling is simply silly and closed minded, because, just as each movie and book must be liked or disliked based upon its own merit, so should anime be judged.

Furthermore, you can console yourself in the fact that what they consider to be "anime" is really just dragon Ball Z "my mouth doesn't match my words and I have really crappy voice actors" anime. It's probably not the anime that you have come to love. Honestly, most people don't really know what REAL anime is anymore.

There's my two yen.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I know how you feel. There are times when I read posts made by anti-Dub
Subfans where I would very much like to reach through the computer and
choke them to death.

Some times it does take me a longish time to settle down.

Yes,I know we should try to see the other person's perspective and everything but some times it is just so hard to do.

We need to all pray for Grace lest we offend our brothers and sisters
over such minor matters.

Buy a heavy bag and some boxing gloves.

Apply the latter to the former with ferocity.

Rinse and repeat.

I know how you feel, Eriana. I get bashed online and IRL because of the things I like, I've gotten to the point where I can just handle or ignore it and sometiems (rarely) I might manage to get the person to actually like it, even if only to a small extent.

If anything, never bash back. It never helps. Even if I don't like something, I'll still stay open about it.

I can somewhat relate... 99.99% of my friends think all anime is the same, and all anime fans are the same type of people. Not to offend any anime fan, but realisticly how do most people view anime fans? Mostly they see us as sci-fi loving people who play D&D and have wear grungy clothing, watch Lord of the Rings and such... Well I don't resemble anything close to what many may think anime fans are like

I'm flat out a jock. I play a bunch of sports, like to watch boxing, dress decently, and haven't seen a LoR movie.

Like the point I made about not all fans are/act/look the same, the same applies to genres. Not every anime is a DBZ or sailormoon type. Gosh no. I would have given up on anime if it were.

I guess the best way to deal with it is much like Mangafanatic stated. Act like a mature adult and be calm and collective about how you do things. THey may not understand, but truth is the wold is sterotypical. Sucks but that's how it is.

If all else fails, just poke fun and mock something they enjoy :P

People usually bash something they don't understand.

I tell any friend who is new and interested in anime/manga to come to me or more-seasoned anime fans for recommendations before hopping straight into any title blindly. I always emphasize that anime/manga caters to many genres and target audiences and therefore, it's very likely that you'll run into a genre that you vehemently hate by accident. XD;;; After saying all that, I usually offer my service to provide recommendations.

As for ppl who bash them, I guess the best way is act calm and patiently help to clarify any misconceptions. If they refuse to listen, just leave them alone. You tried your best. ^^

BTW, don't feel troubled by it. Most of us have faced the bash-anime culture before and CAA provides a safe haven.

Arigatou Gozaimasu Minna!
I feel a lot better, and being around Christians refreshes me more then words can say. Most people also PM me and slander me for being a christian. It never messes up my walk with God but it's nice to be around people who actually are the same as me. I've kind of forgotten what that's been like...Sorry if I sounded like a baby asking for a weird kind of help like that but I was really stuck. So again, thanks everyone! ^_~*

What I don't get is why people make a thread about hating a show. It's like they're trying to make people mad. Or if they post something in your thread telling how much they don't like your show. I mean, the thread is for people who like that show, not for people to go on to and rant about how stupid they think the show is.
