SquareEnixGamer, Spades, Gypsy, Shatterheart, Lightbringer, Zilch and someone I cannot remember for the life of me right now all hail from this frosty state.

Myself, though I am a proud Texan, I do love Maine quite a bit. I have been there twice to visit 5 of the aforementioned 6 and had a blast every time I did. It's beautiful country like no where else. Sure, the natives will tell you it's small and there's nothing to do, but for a city girl it was quite the getaway--even if I did have to put my socks near the stove every morning and earned some less than desirable nicknames. The coasts are awesome!

I had plans to move there after college...but then God came along and well...He's hard to resist, you know? ^^;; But seriously, I love being there and I think it's a beautiful place. I have pictures all over my room.

Not as many as compared to the KKKalifornians. It's just that lil miss "Transplanted Slip n' Slide" advertises the northernmost continental state as if it where the fields of Elysium or something.

I like maine.
Tis a good place.
Life is slow, but thats ok.
Lots of trees.
Not as many lobsters as you might think.
Beautiful landscape.
Winters are beautiful, but last longer than they ought.
Losts of rocks.
The cities are too small.
There is precious little to do in the winter.
There is a very small anime convention every year.
The ocean is too cold.
The lakes are pretty nice in the summer.
The mud is pretty bad in the spring.
Only warrior babies are born.
Humans cannot enter there.
Lots of trees.
No major league sports team.
Tis a good place.
I like Maine.

Nice. I like it here. I moved to Maine when I was 10 years old. (From Baltimore Md) I love the fall up here....winters are annoying...but you get used to them. Or freeze to death. Either or. One cool thing, were the first state in the USA to see the sunrise each morning. Those weirdos who actually get up in the morning anyway...

Never been to Maine, but it sounds cool and green. I love Kentucky, but I miss Florida, where the air is hot and heavy and you feel the rush of it when you walk out the door. I love the live oaks and the Spanish moss and the palmettos and the springs and the sand boils. Hmm. Maybe, I'm homesick. Haven't seen a spider as big as my hand in ages. . .

I've lived in Maine since I was 1, and it deffinately has it's pros and cons.

The winters are harsh. and dumb. And they seem to last forever.
So.. when the spring comes, you can't help but feel complete happiness because the weather starts to warm up, the trees start to bud, and it's just a great time. And then the summers are perfect. Some days can be grossly humid, though
We also have a great fall season, but it's short.
then again is winter.. Ugh.

Yeah, lobster is cheap here.... <<<bragging

We have the beach, even if the water is brain numbingly cold. In the summer, I can walk to Old Orchard Beach from my house and it's so neat because there's a pier and an amusement park and a bunch of food places.

There is an endless amount of pine trees.. ugh.. I want palm trees. Curse you, floridians!

*cough*Wellll, I think I've spieled enough for now.

Maine is on the opposite side of the country from where I live.
All I know is it a strange place where people talk funny.
I believe the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical CAROUSEL was set in
Maine.Captain Benjamin "Hawkeye" Pierce was from Crabapple Cove,
Maine.(*Starts humming theme from M*A*S*H 'Suicide Is Painless')
However Washington has better clams and apples.
Yes some day soon the Pacific Northwest will rule the country! :jump:

Heh, one of the first things I heard was "aww, isn't her accent adorable!"

But for the most part, the locals I hung around sounded fine...it was only a few of the older generations phrases that made me raise a brow.
Lightbringer's Mom> dress your feet!
Ashley> ....they were naked? Huh?

Of course, I had a few phrases that made them crack up too:
Ashley> well I was fixin' to...
local parent> I'm sorry dear, was something broken?

I always think of the Bob Newhart show when I think of Maine. It would be a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there - too much "blue." XDDDD;;

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.
