I enjoy the long-running plots and characters that I actually can connect with and care about. The simple truth is that anime has a lot to offer that is sadly missing from modern day American TV/Movies.
Anime can often create twisting, turning plots combining Drama, Comedy, Adventure, Romance, and many other genres masterfully, using well created characters.
I like the in-depth characters and awesome storylines!
The art is nice...though as stated in another thread, a lot of series use shortcuts for animation, and I don't appreciate that. I'd rather see a FIGHT than a still shot of a character jumping in front of an undetailed background.
I like the different ways of animation and stories that aren't offered in US cartoons.

termyt wrote:Why? Mostly because it's a fantastic medium that has pushed the limits of animation available to the masses. Beautiful and interesting stories full of imagination and character development - it really is a very mature ar tform - as much as theater or any other. Our animation just doesn't compete. Compare Ed, Edd, and Eddy to Dragon Ball Z. The animation just doesn't compare and both were done inexpensively for the mass market.

Hot chicks --- Macross saga ... not quite seeing it. : \
