Purchases you regret

Postby Golden_Griff » Thu Mar 10, 2005 10:15 pm

Hi, I'm slightly bored and it's bedtime :eh:

Have you ever purchased something, only to regret ever buying it later on?

I hate when that happens! :comp:

Like yesterday, I purchased a piece of ceramic ware from a gallery that I went to for my class assignment. The artist owns and operates the gallery, and many of his pieces were on sale from $6-$1000. Dude had skills. But what do I do? I go and buy a plain, cylindric mug for $14 when I could have paid 4 dollars more to get something more extravegant :bang:

Why did I do it?! Why?! WHY?!? :bang:

Sure, I can say that I own a piece of artwork done by a local artist. But I purchased something I could have made with my own hands! :bang:

*sigh* Anyway...does anyone else experience this type of thing?

Things I've regreted after purchase....
-FFX2. It wasn't as fun as FFX
-The few mangas I have... I never read them
-A hat that looks stupid on me
-A dvd rack that was cheaply made and worthless. It just tips over.. and if it doesn't, all the dvd's fall through the openings. Hint: if you buy a dvd/vhs holder/shelf make sure it doesn'thold the movies at a slant, make sure all the shelves are horizontal
-My gov't text book... All whole dang test came from the class notes.

DNAngel 10 (the second time) - was POSITIVE I didn't have it. I did. x_x

Star Ocean EX dvds - love the series. don't love the fact that the DVDs are bootlegged.

various pairs of earrings - didn't know I was allergic to cheap metal earrings. =/ No fun.

Oh geez, where to begin. I had a spending spree with ebay a while back, and now I regret some of the stuff I bought. I mean, in a way it's cool to have collectibles, but I definately went overboard. Like my 4" KKJ cds--I guess they're cool but I don't even like the songs listed!

Other not-so-wonderful buys:
- my passport. 90 bucks for a stupid piece of plastic I won't even use that often
- Aria volume 1--pretty art, but the story put me to sleep
- Faeries Landing vol 1-3--ugh, good story til they added the shounen-ai overtones. I sold it.
- Azumanga Daioh vol 1--it's so lonesome on my bookshelf, and I'll probably never read it again.

ALL MY FREAKIN OVER-PRICED COLLEGE BOOKS! I spent close to 200 bucks (well, ok, mom and dad did ^^;; ) on books last semester I won't read again. Except maybe the Illiad, I liked that. And a nice fat book bill this semester too.
(Thanks for the shoutout, Shatterheart  )

Airsoft gun made by the company CYMA. I quickly learned that Chinese-made airsoft guns and bbs are the epitome of suckiness.

I could fill a library.

The second time I bought the El Hazard Wanderers 3 VHS tape.
The second time I bought the El Hazard Wanderers 2 DVD.
Galaxy Angel 1. I only regret the second copy. I managed to give the third copy I bought to my brother, so at least it had some value.
My second copy of Ai Yori Aoshi 4. Actually, I have every volume published so far (like 8 or 9) and I haven't read a single one yet.
My second copy of Gall Force: Eternal Story
Thirty issues of InuYasha published in comic book form that I never read because I missed issue number two.
Vandread: Second Stage 4, Second Copy.
Ranma 1/2, Season 7, DVD 2 x 2.
And I bet not even Gypsy likes Iria enough to own two copies - not including the old VHS tapes I bought years ago.

And what is with my compulsive desire to replace every VHS tape I ever owned with the DVD? I've even done it with shows I didn't like all that much to begin with and have never watched again.

Same here… :sniffle:

A ton of Hero Clix and Mech Warrior game pieces… The game is fun, but I just don’t have any one to play with. Why I kept buying them all those years ago??? Not exactly sure… :shake:

I’m sure I have had more, but I have pretty well broken my habit’s of buying regrettable things. ;)

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Purchasing any item cheaper than one that is priced more only to find the reason it's cheaper is because it's cheaply made. Then I have to go out again and purchase the more expensive item so that I will have something that will last longer.

all those dollar DVD's from Wal-Mart. seriously, i love old movies, but only two out of the 10 or so i got are worth watching more than once, or even all the way through. *sighs* but i got what i paid for.

the shirt i got at Cape Canaveral. sure, it's a cool shirt, but it's so ruggedly manly that i will never wear it (seriously, it's about as thick as two normal t-shirts, and has that marble tie-dye look in red and tan, i really don't know why i bought it for myself), and it will just sit in my closet.

My biggest regret in buying something is all the money I wasted on Beanie Babies in the past. Now I don't give a rip for most of them, but they aren't worth practically anything anymore so I can't make much off of them. ^^;

At one point in time I bought like half the animorph books. *weeps profusely*

I also have about 3 large binders full of pokemon cards *weeps mightily*

I then got into Redemption cards (no they arn't indulgences, its a game like magic, but with bible charachters) *Weeps with the strength of 10000 men*

There is so much more too! *weeps more than you could know*

Your triple post magnifies your grief by three.

I have like, ALL the Animorphs books. It was good...but by the fifth time...

- An edited, English-only version of "Cooler's Revenge" (DBZ movie)

My NetMD. It doesn't work with Linux, so I needed to get a copy of VMWare and I kid you not, it now takes about four days to fill up one minidisc.

I almost couldn't get my Canon i450 to work, but after a lot of searching, I discovered that downloading a Japanese only printer driver works just as well.

There's also that USB watch that got stuck in my USB port and I ended up having to destroy the USB plug on the watch to get it out. Still use the watch though.

Almost every console I buy or own gets unused after a while. The PC just has longer lasting gaming goodness for me. Hopefully, I'll use my Gamecube someday for some more multiplayer fun before I really give up on it. Oh, and finish Metroid Prime. I swear I'm the slowest game finisher ever.

Oh, I can't think of anything at the moment that I've regretted purchasing, but I can tell you what my mom and my sister & her husband regretted today: Plane tickets.

Did anyone hear in the news today about the airline company called Jetsgo announcing its declaration of bankruptcy? My above said family members booked a flight with them online to go to my cousin's wedding in the middle of May, and the tickets were non-refundable. So thousands of people who were scheduled to fly today were stranded at the airports!

To coin a popular expression, we were not amused.

I regret buying the Belkin FM Transmitter for my iPod...the thing cost me some money and it doesn't even work since I can't get any clear FM signals in San Antonio.

Also does spending 400 dollars for a speeding ticket count as a regrettable purchase ? Hmm....

Heehee...I re-read my Animorph books all the time. ^^;

I regret getting the first Chobits DVD...I can't bring myself to re-watch them like I do my Kenshin ones.

The Beanie Babies! They plague my closet space...but, now I am sending them to our troops in Iraq to hand out. ^^ I have around 300, and the kids there love them, so they will go to a loving home.
