Does anyone have a clue what the SEED part of Gundam Seed stands for?

Sorry, I am not much help when it comes to Gundam details. I have no clue where the seed came from. Speculation is DNA or something like that, since SEED has all this dealings with coordinators and naturals.

This one has me curious too. I hope someone knows the answer.

It is a special type of genetics that when 'awakened' (usually when someone is in alot of trouble) their eyes co all cloudy and they go kick all the enemys butt severely. At first it seemed that it was supposed to be Co-ordinators only, 'Beserkers' - the ultimate co-ordinator, like Kira, but Cagalli also has SEED, and as far as i'm aware she is a natural... though she could be a co-ordinator...

Cagalli is a confirmed natural. And (so far) the SEED isnt an actual gene sequence (that can show up dominant or recessive in someone) but possibly results from other genetic combinations. Everyone might also have it; they just need to find a trigger for it. The "berserker" thing that Kira and Mwu speak about is a better way to think about it, as a state of mind rather than physical trait.
