The Future

Postby Lynna » Sat Nov 26, 2011 12:34 pm

So...when most students get into eleventh grade, we're supposed to, somhow, have our future all planned out for ourselves. And, like it or not, I am halfway through eleventh grade.
I'm really not sure what to do. I would really like to go to university, but I'll have to get a scholarship. Also, I want to do creative writing, since I want to become an author, but that isn't a very money-making, reliable choice. And I feel that creative writing is the one thing I am really, really talented at. There are some jobs that I would make money in that I am semi-interested in, but for some reason I don't think they're what God wants for me. I'm just really not sure what God's plan for me is, which makes things very confusing. I've been feeling for a long time that God wants me to be a missionary in Japan, but when? For how long? What programs? I just don't know! And If I don't go to University, I'm not sure what I'll do for a job. I don't even have a job right now, or even have time for a job.:bang:
Sorry for the rant, I'm just kind of frustrated right now. Can you please pray that I'll figure things out?
Thanks! ^_^

Don't be too worried about it. I know quite a few college students who changed their majors a lot. You can get away with it up until your junior year, but by then, you'd better have a major decided.

Don't let the money thing stop you from doing what you want to do, hon. You can find ways to do both what you love and what you need to support yourself :).

Trust me, if God wants you to be a missionary in Japan, he'll get you here no matter what you do in the meantime. I felt the calling as a senior in high school but kind of forgot it for three years. If you're open to God's leading and have your life surrendered to Him, He'll get you where He wants you regardless of money. And sometimes God's leading is for you to be patient and realize that He's not going to give you an answer about your future just yet. I HATE those parts of my life. But it's an important time of growth, learning to wait for the Lord and His timing. So hang in there and keep praying, and do what you can to please Him right where you are.

And I know there's a lot of pressure and everything but you don't necessarily have to go to college right out of high school. I know a lot of people who did other things for a while and went to college a little later. :)
