American VA's who didn't do anime thread

Postby rocklobster » Thu Aug 12, 2010 4:37 am

I wanted to do a separate tribute to my favorite non-anime VA's. Even before I got into anime, I paid attention to voices in animation.
I think the best place to start would be the most recognizeable one of all--Mel Blanc. BTW, I'm taking miniakachan's suggestion and combining this all into one thread.
Mel Blanc (1908-89) started out in radio before he became famous for voicing almost all Looney Tunes characters. (I actually have a recording of Jack Benny with Blanc doing a cameo) Besides the Looney Tunes, he also had a lot of other characters in other companies. He did the voice of Mr. Spacely in Jetsons and Barney Rubble in Flintstones. I believe his last role was Heathcliff in the DiC cartoon about that other orange cat from the comics. (and yes, I know, in the comic strip, Heatcliff was mute)
For me, Mel Blanc is the one Voice Actor who will never be topped. His style of comedy was and is unmatched to this day. I miss him, and I'm sure there are some of you out there who will agree.

Bill Scott, the voice of such glorious idiots as Bullwinkle, Dudley Do-Right and George of the Jungle, and also Mr. Peabody. If I remember correctly, he also wrote the the Moose and Squirrel episodes, which makes him one of the great comic writers of the 20th century.
Most of the cast of Rocky and Bullwinkle deserves mention: June Foray (Rocket J. Squirrel, Natasha Fatale, Nell Fenwick), Paul Frees (Boris Badenov, Inspector Fenwick, Ape), Hans Conried (Snidely Whiplash), William Conrad (the narrator).

Mel Blanc was awesome in Loony Tunes. ^^

I don't always notice the VA's, but I do know one that impresses me: Tara Strong. She did Raven in Teen Titans, Bubbles in Powerpuff girls, and Ben 10 in the original Ben 10 show. Some variety, huh?

Sorry but Tara Strong is disqualified. She was in Princess Mononoke, Tekkaman Blade II, and Sailor Moon S. Oh and Shaman King.
