30 Hour Famine

Postby Shiningmonk_e » Fri Apr 24, 2009 2:48 pm

Does anyone else do this?
For those who don't know, we fast for 30 hours and do various activities put together by world vision. We were supposed to raise money but I forgot this year >_<.
It's a lot of fun and not nearly as hard as it sounds.
"Who is this?" they said to Me
'That the wind and waves obey
Come, let's hang Him on a tree
That His reign should pass away'
But here I am I say to you
Though you turn away, it is My will
To love you for forevermore
Peace be still, peace be still

There was a thread for this last year too, I'm happy to see the 30 hour famine is still in effect. o.o

I used to participate in this during my younger junior high and high school days. It was a pretty big thing for my youth group and, like you say, a whole lot of fun. The activities helped take away our minds from hunger. XD

I sadly forget about the famine most of the time these days. ^_^;

^^; no, I have never heard about this...

Sadly, I work at a restaraunt it'd be pretty difficult to forget about food for 30 hours O_o

Did you mean this one http://www.christiananime.net/showthread.php?t=50542 perhaps? :D

We're doing that at my church in a couple of weeks. We'll be sleeping out on the front lawn in cardboard boxes and tents.

Yeah, we're doing that. I haven't been participating in the planning, but I've always wanted to sleep in a cardboard box...

That would be the one. :p

I helped plan it one year for my church(when I was a senior in high school), but the students' idea of sleeping outside in cardboard boxes was denied. Maybe because it was raining... >_> I would have liked to try it though. XD;

Its a great experience, just make sure you have activities there or friends to suffer with =) When I was still in highschool did it a few times.

I was a little interested last year when I heard about it, our church never does it though. My ex-girlfriend did it last year though.

The famine ended yesterday at 6:00 for my church. It was a lot of fun. We had about 17 people and raised over $400.

Yay, the 30 Hour Famine! :D

I didn't do it but my friend did, and I was praying for her all weekend. Pretty cool.
