Well, I'm a single guy with no plans for Valentine's Day...except getting a card for my Mom. >_> She's the lady in my life right now.

She buys a baked heart cake with strawberries and REAL whipped cream and we all have wine with it. She then brings out a couple Valentine's gifts for both my dad and me.

[SIZE="1"]This might be off topic, but I read an article a couple days ago about how more people WITH a significant other hate Valentine's Day then those who don't. All their reasons were really selfish, like "It's a stupid holiday that MAKES you buy things."

Okay, so I may get uber bitter around V-day, but at least I don't want to get rid of it. It should really be more about honoring Saint Valentine. X3[/SIZE]

Just as long as you buy the chocolates the day AFTER Valentines day... when everything drops rapidly in price because the season has vanished :P.

Oh. But. It. IS! Think about it. Not buying your lover things on Valentines day has been made (by comercialization) equivalent to not caring about that person. Do you think any guy with a girl wants to be caught dead telling her that he can't afford some chocolates and roses? I mean, this comes up every year at a specific time. Its a commercialization dream! You have captive consumers who are now socially obligated to purchase your products from across the whole country.

If you don't try to ignore the souless cooperate component, the candy quickly seems a bit a sour.

Well, so far I've hosted a birthday party for a bunch of little kids and ran the climbing wall for them...So it hasn't been too bad. Actually today is going alright. I'll probably go read some shoujo manga though, just to commemorate the day.

Haha, oh yeah mang.

Anyway, my boyfriend is really big on the "hate commercial holidays" thing- he hates birthdays and christmas and all that jazz, so its not a surprise to me that he doesn't want to do anything. Although last year he took me out for supper cos he didn't want to seem rude, cos we'd only been dating 6 months, so.
But yeah, I'm going to a party tonight (themed: famous couples from the 80's. How the heck is that even a theme?) and probably going to fall asleep with the boyfriend watching Ghost World or something.
No sugar coated goodness for me, but I could care less.

I didn't do a whole lot of special stuff today (yeah I'm single...)But it's been a good day so far. :)
One thing I really like about Valentine's Day...Candy! :P
