Video file type converting

Anyone know of any good software to do this with? I'm trying to use MediaCoder at the moment, but it's not going so well.

It says it takes 20GB? Holy crap...was that a typo or did it actually take that much room?

I'm not sure where you're reading that, but when I downloaded it last, it was about 25MB.

After clicking like 5 links to get to the download, that's what I saw somewhere for requirements. 20gb of free space.

Either way, I ended up using this. http://www.mediaconverter.org/index.php?s=c&show=downloads it's working well.

The following minimum configuration is required to run SUPER©.v2008.build.30(Mar.22,2008) on your PC.

o One of the following OS: Windows© 98 (second edition), Windows© ME (final release)
Windows© 2000, Windows© XP, Windows© 2003, Windows© Vista.
SUPER©.v2008.build.30(Mar.22,2008) is NOT suitable to run in a Windows emulator environment like WINE or similar
o Full admin credentials within an admin session (for NTkernel OS). (Vista users, RightClick and 'Run as... Administrator')
o At least 1800 MHz Intel® Pentium4 processor or equivalent. (64-bit CPU or OS support is NOT guaranteed)
o 512MB of RAM or more.
o 20GB of free space (or more) on the Hard disk where the OS is installed.
o 1024 x 768 video resolution or larger.
o 32,000-color video or more.
o IE 5.01 or later.
o Internet connection.

I think it just means that you usually need a lot of free space on your hard disk when doing stuff with video, as is the case with all video-related programs. And of course, if you are dealing with short, low-res videos, then you can get away with much less. I would be surprised if the program itself took up any more than 50MB.

Oh, ok. Wasn't sure, and I'm wary of downloading new programs anyways, so, no offense, but I took the one my good friend recommended and tested over the one you did, since I don't know you as well and the site seemed less lefit.

For me a decent covert ( to convert to .avi) is RAD Video Tools.

I think it supports .wmv, .avi, .mov and you can convert them to .avi,.wav.

My digital camera has .mov files and I use RAD Video Tools to convert them to .avi so I can use the clips in Windows Movie Maker.

Just wondering, I downloaded this program just then to have a go but it seems I can't play the converted avi file. Do you know if this means I need to get the latest codecs? Thanks.
