Fall 2007 WatchList?

Postby minakichan » Sun Oct 21, 2007 7:33 pm

Hey all,

Just wondering what your watchlists were for fall 2007? I've been trying to find in-depth reviews, but without much success (AnimeNewsNetwork's Preview Guide was sadly lacking).

EDIT: i.e. Fall Anime Season 2007, particularly series that are starting IN JAPAN this fall rather than series that started earlier and continue into the fall.

The multitude of ren-ai game adaptions is a bit depressing, since I have no interest in that genre. I get the feeling that fall isn't nearly as good as spring was, but then again, 3 of Spring 2007 season made my list of Favorite Anime of All Time (tm), so I guess that doesn't mean much it itself.

Right now, I know I'm definitely watching <b>Shion no Ou</b> because I absolutely loved the little bit of manga I read of it (think Hikaru no Go, except it's about shougi, there are no ghosts, and the main character is a girl who became mute after her parents were killed right before her eyes... yeah. And Paku Romi's role is... amazing in this.). I'm on the fence about <b>Gundam 00</b> simply because I'm not a Gundam fan in the slightest, but I might give it a chance. <b>Kaiji</b> seems interesting to me because gambling and dire situations really excite me, but I have to watch a little more to see how it goes (it's kind of similar to the J-drama Liar Game). I might drop the girls-in-kendo-club anime <b>Bamboo Blade</b>; it's funny, but not wholly original. Also wondering is <b>Rental Magica</b> is worth picking up.

Et vous?

Nothing too interesting for me to watch... really hasn't been too many anime that intrigued me as of late :/ I'll check into Clannad TV definitely, though. I also remembering hearing about xxxHOLiC season 2, but dunno when it'll be airing (will definitely check that out^^)

Gotta finish collecting Utawarerumono as it comes out, and the second season of Black Lagoon. I'm gonna keep an eye out for the second FMP season box set, too.

The only thing that I really care about seeing is You're Under Arrest! FULL THROTTLE and ef - a tale of memories.

But the rest of the fall season looks blah!

Thus far it seems to be a lackluster season. Moyashimon has novelty value, but there doesn't seem to be much to it beyond the gimmick. Mokke, Ghost Hound and Shion no Ou may be good, but it's too soon to tell.

A couple of series that started earlier this year are still being subtitled, Oh! Edo Rocket and Denno Coil. If you haven't yet seen them, they're worth your time.

None of the titles have caught my interest yet. However, I haven't been trying that hard because my schedule could use some extra half hours every week.

Also, note that this forum uses tags similar to HTML, but use brackets instead of wickets.

"God the great Creator of all things doth uphold, direct, dispose, and govern all creatures, actions, and things, from the greatest even to the least, by His most wise and holy providence, according to His infallible foreknowledge and the free and immutable counsel of His own will, to the praise of the glory of His wisdom, power, justice, goodness, and mercy."

"All of Christian life is ceaseless worship of God the Father, through the mediatorship of God the Son, by the indwelling power of God the Spirit, doing what God commands in Scripture, not doing what God forbids in Scripture, in culturally contextualized ways, for the furtherance of the Gospel, when both gathered for adoration, and scattered for action, in joyous response to God's glorious grace."
- Mark Driscoll

"Believers do not pray with the view of informing God about things unknown to Him, or of exciting Him to do His duty, or of urging Him as though He were reluctant. On the contrary, they pray in order that they may arouse themselves to seek Him, that they may exercise their faith in meditating on His promises, that they may relieve themselves from their anxieties by pouring them into His bosom; in a word, that they may declare that from Him alone they hope and expect, both for themselves and for others, all good things."
- Martin Luther

"I have to tell you first that I am ready to die. I have put my affairs in order. Your supreme weapon is killing. My supreme weapon is dying, because when you kill me, people all over Romania will read my books and believe on the God that I preach - even more than they do now."
- Dr. Joseph Ton, the exiled Romanian pastor (quoted by James Montgomery Boice)

"The best prayer I ever prayed had enough sin in it to condemn the whole world."
