I don't think I've ever been especially struck with the films that have been made of Bible stories (or at least the ones that I've seen). I'm looking forward to seeing that Mel Gibson film when it comes out though.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Ted and Lee's Fisheyes. Actually, it's a multiple part series. Two comedians covering most of Jesus's life. They manage to be hilarious, while making you seriously think about some issues at the same time. Great stuff.

The Ten Commandments.

Kurama, please try to look at the post date of threads when you're searching. This one is over three years old, and it would probably have been better to make a new thread or simply not post. No harm done, and I'll leave it unlocked because I assume we could have a new round of discussion on the topic, but try to avoid doing so in the future.

My answer from three years ago more or less stands, though I think that one of their more recent works, Creation Chronicles, is probably better.

I suppose Dogma doesn't count? If not that, then The Ten Commandments. <mod snip> Cool movie though.

<mod note: This comment borders on a political subject. And since we don't allow poilitical debate, I decided to go ahead and cut it. Please consider this for future posts.>

I think they did a parody in MAD magazine where they showed Charelton Heston's character from Planet of the Apes tell the Ape Elders:"Let My People Go!"
As far as The Robe goes,I think it is one of the better movies to come out based on either the Bible or early Christianity.

I've just got this scene from the Ten Commandments in my head where they cross the Dead (or Red?) Sea... so I guess I'll cast my vote in with that one as my favourite until I think of another. ^^

It's the Red sea, CA :thumb:. And I'd have to say my favorite Christian movie is probably the "Passion of the Christ." I'm also really looking forward to seeing the Nativity movie, it looks from the commercial as if it could be one of the most accurate representations of Christ's birth that I've ever seen in a movie. Yay!
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
