Psycho Ann + Mave + UC = ??? [New Forum]

Postby uc pseudonym » Sun Oct 08, 2006 6:14 pm

[EDIT]We have added a website for discussion of our comics:
http://www.theproject.us/forum/ [/EDIT]

What do you get when you take Mave’s Kingdom Come, Ann’s Psychoteers, and a dash of UC, put it all on a server, then let cook for a few weeks? In this case, you get a cheesy intro and a slightly odd metaphor.

Really, though, I am proud to be the one to announce The Project here at CAA. To make a long story short, Mave had to change hosts, Ann invited her, I was involved with the move enough that I ended up being a part of it, and we all have a new website:

The Project

Visit the website to find a lot of your favorite Christian webcomics in one place. There’s Psychoteers, Kingdom Come, Syreth's Kardia, Paladin, the CAA sprite comic, Tic Tac Toe Joe, and Much Much More! We plan on uploading further Much Much More in the next few days.

Unfortunately, I have to note that the layout isn't quite right on Internet Explorer versions lower than 7. It will look fine in Firefox and most Netscape-based browsers.

(I found this a few days ago. It's nice to have all of it on the same server, and the layout is very well done, except that your content appears at the bottom of the page instead of between the two sidebars. Are you using PHP, CSS, or just HTML for that?)

(edit: nevermind, I read the update. x_x I don't have permission to upgrade IE on this computer.)

Yay! Now it will be easier to navigate some of the comics I read. Are you planning on updating Tic-Tac-Toe Joe any time soon or is that still on hold? I'm assuming the latter.

I'm really excited by this Project of yours and would like to contribute...somehow.

So, what brought about this alliance exactly? You mentioned some stuff, but the devil is in the details, as the old saying goes...

*waits for "Much Much More"*

I need to start reading more of the member produced comics. The site looks good, and maybe this will get me reading more.

Looks good, I don't think I've ever had the pleasure of the reading any of the webcomics, now's a good a time as any to start I guess.

There are a number of solid amateur-produced Christian webcomics, and if this causes you to read them all the better.

meboeck wrote:Yay! Now it will be easier to navigate some of the comics I read. Are you planning on updating Tic-Tac-Toe Joe any time soon or is that still on hold? I'm assuming the latter.

It isn't technically on hold, but Ann has been very busy for a very long time. With the launch of the new website, she does intend to update it, but this sentence should not be misconstrued as a promise that it will be done soon. However, I have personally seen the sketches of many pages, so some progress has been made. The second chapter is considerably longer and (in my mind) considerably funnier.

Zarn Ishtare wrote:So, what brought about this alliance exactly? You mentioned some stuff, but the devil is in the details, as the old saying goes...

That could be a very long story. However, I'll see what I can do about a succinct answer to that question.

There were minor involvements between the three of us, but nothing major. More significantly, Ann and I worked together on Tic Tac Toe Joe and Mave and I communicated regarding various projects. When Mave got the idea to create a personal forum for projects and we created it, I pulled Ann along because she and I were working on a major project that may be produced commercially (Mave has since gotten pulled into it as well). From there, further collaboration has taken place as well as significant idea-bouncing off one another. We also finally made good on our promise to attend Fanime 2006 together this year. Thus we had an established alliance at the time that Mave found herself needing to switch hosts, and this website seemed only natural.

Psycho Ann + Mave + UC = uncreative Psycho Mave? Psycho Pseudomave? A three-to-one marny?

However you slice it, it's just that much more goodness to love. Concentrated awesome.

Define "still around." Both of them are alive. Both of them are indeed working on projects. Both are definitely busy with other parts of their lives. I've chatted with both of them recently. This merger couldn't possibly have happened without their hard work, so I say they qualify as still around.

Now, with any luck we'll be around in terms of comic updates too, before long...

Hello folks,

Nice to see the official announcement has been made. Thanks to UC for making this thread and for dealing with questions during Ann's and my unavailability. :)

I'm mostly dropping by to demonstrate that I'm alive and well, albeit an insanely unpredictable personal schedule. \\(^__^)// Me Alive alive!

I know for a fact that Ann's well and alive. \\( A.N.N )// <--- (^_^)// See? See? Ann Alive! Hehehe....

Seriously, it's my hope that consolidating these websites will bring more fruits and fellowship rather than the common experience where everyone is struggling on their own. It's been a great pleasure working with UC and Ann, which I find very encouraging and edifying.

We're still working on figuring some consistent update system and on picking up that 'Much much more' part. Trust us, we're just as impatient with the updates ourselves. But as a whole, I do appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as we work around figuring it all out....including any website bugs we have yet to discover.

Do feel free to share feedback and ideas for projects (some of our one-shots include artist/writer collaborations). After all, there's a reason for the website name --> Projects projects projects.......

Will there be forums in the future?

Any possiblity I can "Pitch In"?

What's your long term goals in this?

Do you have an opinion about the situation in Neverwhen?

How about in Temuopolis?

Finally, Will you be hosting comics from other artists in the future?

Zarn Ishtare wrote:Will there be forums in the future?

As of yet there are no plans for forums.

Zarn Ishtare wrote:Any possiblity I can "Pitch In"?

At the moment, our work is limited to fairly personal projects, so I do not believe so. Ann and Mave may have different ideas.

Zarn Ishtare wrote:What's your long term goals in this?

As a group, I think we're mostly thinking short term, as in a few months.

Personally, however, I can share my long term goals. I would like this site to represent the three of us, both together and as individuals. If all goes well, some of us will eventually have professionally made projects that could be linked from the site. It is also our intention to continue making webcomics that will remain online, though we may compile one-shots and the like into volumes for sale at a later date. It appears likely that all three of us will have some influence on any project that one of us begins, so there is a limited degree of community there. Ideally, I would like the Project to be known in publishing circles as a source for solid Christian manga.

Zarn Ishtare wrote:Do you have an opinion about the situation in Neverwhen?

Official no comment.

Zarn Ishtare wrote:How about in Temuopolis?

Official no comment.

Zarn Ishtare wrote:Finally, Will you be hosting comics from other artists in the future?

That is still undetermined. We do host some minor comics by random artists and that list will continue. There is precedent, as Syreth has Kardia featured as one of the primary webcomics on the site. However, we have not discussed this and I don't know what we might decide.

I've bumped this thread, but for a very good reason: we have just added a forum to the website. It isn't meant to be a community like CAA, but rather a place where you can discuss the comics more specifically than is reasonable here. Or bug us for updates. Whatever you like, really.
