Ok in this thread we'll list some of the more trivial aspects of Pokemon.
I'll start with:
*Misty's name in Japanese is Kasumi,Kasumi means Mist in English.
*It's an on-going joke that no-one can get Butch's name right even though he keeps yelling it at everyone all the time. :lol:

Wobuffet's japanese name is Soonansu, which is a refrence to a phrase used by a famous japanese comedian; it roughly means "that's right", so every time Wobbuffet pops out, he's agreeing with what was just said ^^.

The latest movie released is actually being released WITH a Japanese track and subs... never thought I'd see that coming^^ Well, Viz owns it now but even with the TV show they never did... Too bad I'm not exactly a fan anymore^^ Just somethign I noticed while browsing upcomign DVDs...

EDIT: might be wrong cause the other DVDs are listed as having Japanese too... but this is the only one that lists an "english subtitle". *shrugs*

Ever noticed that all the Professors Ash and company meet are named for trees?
Oak,Birch,etc.?

Pokemon,though more popular came AFTER Digimon.

Episode 9 is about the only time Ash is seen crushing on a girl.

Isn't that the episode when the group goes to a private school for Pokemon trainers? I rememebr that episode! Poor Pikachu was jogging on a treadmill for the whole first half of the episode...

And I think that episode was the first and only time Pokemon broke down the 4th wall!

It's been awhile since they aired the first season.

Up until Season 9,Max was played by Amy Birnbaum.Amy Birnbaum is better known as the North American voice of Tea(aka Anzu) on Yu-Gi-Oh!

They break the 4th wall ALL the time! Team Rocket does it the most. here is a line from one of the most recent dub episodes.

Meowth: I have a pain but I can't tell you where it is because this is a kid's show

anyway, for trivia: the guy who now plays James and Meowth (all the voices changed in season 9) is the guy who USED to play Gary. (Jimmi Zoppi)

Veronica Taylor (the original Ash VA) also appeared in Grave of the Fireflies as Seita and Setsuko's mom.

over the course of the series Pikachu has fried the bicycles belonging to three different girls ^^. (Misty, May, and Hikari)

As far as I know,Pickachu has been the only character to be played by the same person in both the Japanese and North American versions.
