Christian Schools

Postby Noley » Mon Sep 25, 2006 3:21 pm

I was just wondering how many of you attend a christian school and how that affects you being an anime fan. I personally have went to a christian school for my high school career. And as far as being an anime fan i'm the only one in the school (Not a big school less 80 kids in the highschool. I'm a Junior in high school and nobody really talks to the 7th and 8th graders). But my frined watchs some anime (mainly bleach now) but not really and anime fan. Most of my friends in school condem it as simpily pornography.

edit:Sorry about that

Sorry. I am not an anime. But I like anime =p

I don't really care what other people think. My school is catholic (also very liberal. Plus I am not catholic)

They just think it's funny when I mention it...either that or they don't know what "anime" is...

Never been to a Christian school... in regular school no one's bugged me about it really. Friends knew I liked it and no one else even commented on it or anything.

Less than 80 kids?! You're joking! *can't fathom it* That is a small school. XD I go to a huge school where it is overcrowded and public. We have anime fans galore. Even are planners are anime-fied, and not the pretty kind. >_0

I go to a tiny Christian school. There're something like 200-someodd kids in the entire school, grades 5K-12. I've been going to that school since I was in 5K. XD Anyways, I think the number of anime fans, at least in the highschool, is VERY small. Like, I'm the only one. XD No, I have two friends that I've introduced to it recently, and my two other friends (who just started college this year) are anime fans as well (though I'm not sure they count, since they're not at the school anymore).

I don't recall getting any slack for being a fan, though. I remember some kids saying stupid stuff about my liking or drawing Zelda when I was in my freshman year, but recently? Nope, I don't think there's been any opposition to it. At least, not yet. XD The worst thing I can remember was when Pokemon was really huge; they banned it from the school, mostly due to the whole "ohemjee they're DEMONZ" thing, and that was back when I was in 5th and 6th grade. XD Still, I wonder what would happen if some teachers at my school knew more about the darker side of anime, and I wonder if they would make an issue of it then. Here's hoping that never, ever happens. XD

That sounds a lot like my school. There are a bunch of gamers (basicly halo-ites) but no real anime fans besides me. There are about 4 half fans though but we never really talk about anime.

I went to Bible College and met several kids who liked it. However, they kinda broke the rules sometimes, cause we weren't supposed to watch secular videos. People would always comment on my drawings and I think they thought I was a geek, but that's not really abnormal and it wasn't to the point that it bugged me at all. I went on a mission trip with some people from school and one guy I made friends with watched a bunch of anime with me. It was pretty cool. I suppose it depends on the school you go to, though.

Over the course of my hs career, I went to a catholic school, an episcopal school, and a jewish school o__O

The jewish school had a ton of anime fans, and it was pretty sweet. The catholic school , not many had heard of anime (this was a LONG time ago), but I have it on good authority that a LOT of porn was traded on campus, so whether or not they felt it was porn wouldn't stop them from liking it, hehe. Several of the kids in my episcopal school liked it.

I go to a Christian school, and there's a small group of anime fans... there's less since a few of them graduated last year. I don't know... I don't really like to talk about anime at school. I've also been trying to make myself a more rounded person instead of being like an otaku. My friends don't really know much about anime, or care, but it's not a big deal to me. I can enjoy it on my own time...

Plus the "anime" fans at our school tend to not be interested in living out Christianity... just in general. <.<;; And some of them are just REALLY annoying (the kind of people who are like ZOMGOSH! NARUTO IS THE BEST ANIME EVER!!11ONE!)

I spent my senior year in high school in a Christian school but that was back in
the 1977-78 school year so anime wasn't at all well known as it is with today's generation.
The fact is I am a living example that you don't need to be in your teens or
early twenties to become an anime fan,I didn't become one until I was in my early
40s.
Also one of the only times I ever heard about anime/manga was once when a missionary from Japan was speaking at my Bible School alumna mater and said how bad they were, this was about the one of the few times I ever even heard about them until I became a fan.

I go to a Christian school, and there's a fiar amount of us who are into animé/manga. We're definately not the majority, but we're there.

I went to a small Christian school for the eighth grade, but transfered to a magnet school, with my magnet being Environmental Science, even though I do miss it, even though it was a bit strict...

I think I was the only one out of two people who like anime/manga.

I've gone to Christian schools all my life and never told anyone that I liked it (guess I was embarrassed) but now that I'm in highschool it seems so much more accepted and I'm not that embarrassed to talk about it anymore because it seems like everyone has seen it sometime or another.

I wentto a Bible college and there were about 300 students I guess. There were only two fans that I was aware of and that is including me...

But Senior Year I got about 3 or 4 guys addicted to Naruto... I was so proud of myself. They would seriously sit in my dorm room for hours watching it and then try to imitate jutsus and stuff... it was hilarious. But I guess it was cool not being the only geek, haha.

I went to a Christian high school, and now I'm going to a Christian university.

In high school, I wore a DbZ T-shirt once and they tried to exorcise me.
