he just is allways having trouble getting up....so later today I have to go with my Dad to put him to sleep...my brothers can`t seem to handle all this so my Mom told me to got with my dad.T.T BUt Why Me?!?!

I've lost two cats and two dogs over my lifetime. Every one of them hurt to lose. I lost my first dog when I was about 10 years old, and she was 15. Only once did I have to go to put one of them to sleep. It was my second dog, a golden retriever. He was the BEST dog... and he had cancer, and was no longer eating, drinking, or moving. He'd just lay there. He was only 12. My dad had to carry him out to the car, and he didn't go to put him to sleep, because that dog was HIS, and he was so attached to him, it's the only time I've ever seen my dad emotional. He carried him out to the car, and came back in crying. Never seen that before or since. 
Anyway, I'll never forget the whole vet experience, so I totally know how you feel. I am so sorry to hear you have to do that. You'll be in my prayers, and I hope the whole thing isn't more difficult than it has to be.

I lost my dog Beau that way. By the end, he was so sick, it was obvious he was in pain and I hated myself because I knew I was prolonging his suffering by being too selfish to let my folks put him down because I didn't want to lose him. I helped my Dad put him in the car when it was time to take him to go be put to sleep, which probably constitutes the most bittersweet moment of my life. I knew it was the right decision, and my dog was excited to go for a car ride, which meant I was very glad to see him happy (for the first time in a long while), but I felt like such a traitor for loading him in that car and having him be happy about it! If you can, try to think of it in terms of doing what is best for your dog.

Well it is sad to hear remember 15 is a really old age for a dog to live to
so it was good that you had him for so long.Loosing any pet is tough and no
getting a new dog won't substitute for the one you have lost.But what you will have are all the good memories.

Our family lost a dog that way as well. Her name was Heidi.
The sad fact is that if a dog is put to sleep like that, their generally in terrible pain. Our dog Heidi was very old, and she was in and out of the vet in her final weeks.
She's in a better place now, and no longer in pain : )

Awwwwwwwwww, that's so sad. *hugs!!!!!!!!!* I know what that's like, we had to get rid of my favorite dog just because our neighbors didn't like to hear him barking.

We had a dog who lived to be 15 too. Missy got old and began to have troubles getting up, hearing, and performing normal doggy acts.
Long story short, my mom got into our van and backed out of our garage, but our poor pup missy was sleeping behind the van and must not have heard the car turn on, for she was run over. We had to put her to sleep after that.
Im sorry your losing one of your lifetime friends, but just remember that it is for the best before something bad happens like poor missy.

Losing pets is never easy. People make jokes when people get emotional over the loss of one...but when you have had an animal for so long...it becomes like part of the family. I lost a cat that we had for like 12 years. It really stunk. But, everything in this life is slowly fading. We need to apprecite what we have while we can.

A lot of people don't like to talk of the things they love after they have been lost. It seems the sadness of the loved one no longer being available out weighs the joy of the time spent together. I think that is a shame. Please try to remember the joy of growing up with Buddy and not the sadness of loosing him.
Buddy probably didn't spend much time thinking of his own death, but if I were him I'd very much rather you felt richer for knowing me and remembering the time we had together than being sad that I am now gone.

So sorry to hear of your loss Kurama! I know pets can be just like family, or even closer. Be thankful at least that God let you spend a full life (in dog years... 15's really old in doggy years) with him. Don't be angry for putting him to sleep, he's not in any pain anymore. We had to do the same thing for my old cat when she was 17, anf couldn't eat or stand. I completely understand how little obscure things can set you off crying again when you remember him. I lost a guinea pig a few months ago and was going through the same thing. Hang in there! God will take care of Buddy in heaven.
