Final Fantasy Unlimited

Postby Straylight » Sun Jul 06, 2003 5:54 pm

Anyone seen this? it's an anime series based on Final Fantasy, containing all the basic FF elements.

I've just got hold of a really nice import 4 dvd set with english subtitles. Having watched the first episode I've gotta say I'm liking what i'm seeing so far! If you've seen this what were your opinions on it?

What's the story line? (I've never played any of the final fantasy games)
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

I have a music video using scenes from it to a cool song...
The basic elements of a FF game are chocobos, magic, summons, airships, and the main character always uses a sword or gun or combination of the 2(FF8).

This is like the original Final Fantasy anime. It came out before "the spirits within"

Well, I'd meant the anime. I know the games are all FRPGs and have different storylines. Hopefully this show has nothing to do with the movie..

it's surely more FinalFantasy than "The Spirits Within" (i hate FF Spirits Within, it's not a FF based story-it's just merely an American scifi film! no swords, magic nor summon creatures, how can you call that Final Fantasy? Hollywood ruined everything!)

final fantasy: the spirit within was made by the creater of the final fantasy series it was a FF Movie and it was great do you know the meaning behind the movie and if you don't you learned nothing from the FF series every game has a meaning, but small minds can't see the true so that tales you alot about people, but of course people only watch thing for meaning they want to see, this there a reason behind this or that, is there a christan thing to learn from this or not? In life you search for a reason and something to hold on to and in the end there is nothing but a small bit of light called hope but the real question is is it hope?
I n September of 2012 Megaroad-01 was launched with an escort of fleet of zentraedi warships. From that point on the mass-production of the Megaroad -class colony ship began and soon long-range colony fleets were routinely being launched from earth solar system at a rate of 1-2 per year.
In September of 2022 Megaroad-19 colony ship with it’s escort fleet left earth and headed south fifteen degrees to the right of the southern star. On a mission with three objection; One to search for a planet to colonize, two to see what the rim of the galaxy looks like, three to see if any zentraedi fleets are out there. On July 21, 2025 Megaroad-19 entered its ninth star system and named it the sierra system.
Orbiting the third planet is an asteroid that was some ten miles in size, and a moon that was named Karla.

Do they sell the episodes on DVD somewhere, or do you have to import it?

Hmmmmm.
I think there was an older Final Fantasy anime as well called "Legend of the Crystals". It was loosely based on FF5. Don't know how good it was though.

I'm actually interested in seeing Final Fantasy Unlimited. I heard that it's alot of lighthearted fun with a summon gun and all of the typical Final Fantasy elements. I'm hoping that it will get a good dub from ADV, but I heard they are using the Monster Island studio and I was not impressed with their dub of Kenshin Trust/Betrayal.

For everyone's information, "hk" is shorthand for pirated Hong Kong anime dubs/subs that are almost uniformly miserably done (I mean, the translation is often as bad or worse than the similarly ethically questionable fansubs, from what I hear), that exist because of someone's act of theft, and that are entirely worthless for official collection.

There were 2 FF movies: The first one was called "Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals," it was anime set like 20 years after FF5, and pretty much roundly drubbed. Although there was rather little in objectionable content from what I hear (aside from some mild violence, some clothes that were a bit skimpy, and a VERY *odd* form of clothes-on fanservice-if you want to know what I'm talking about, look up the Anime Cafe's review) there was also very little in plot, character development, or anything else of note.

The second was "The Spirits Within" which was yet another stain on the idea of a Final Fantasy movie or anime.

I have no idea about the origins of my dvd set really. I bought them of a friend... might ask her where she got them from.
Here are some scans of the first box if that helps:

the truth is that hkdvds are rarely horribly done . they were in the 90s but the standards have gone up. neither are they illegal priates they use loopholes in hcinese hong kong legal system so essentially it is legal.
