I'm also curious about the original jap anime--surely they weren't filled with the mind-numbing dialogue and cliches (the stuff that spew from Team Rockets' mouths for one). I've also glanced at the manga a while back and it didn't seem much different than your average boy-with-super-pet young shonen plot. The anime gets tiring because the makers wanted to sell more episodes and I will confidently say that giving an anime series to be exploited and dubbed will ruin it in the long run.

I doubt many of the puns and whatever were in the Japanese version. Puns aside though, it's actually supposed to be translated fairly accurately I think (especially for a 4kids anime, heh).

But yeah, I believe the repetitiveness of the episodes and the market-driven length of the series pretty much ruined it.
I was a fan of it for a while but, it got pretty tiring to watch.

Hehe I love your post Madphilb, I actualy have reconsidered playing the pokemon games. They are fun. But I was sick and tired of all the color versions . Maybe a nice 3D rpg..hey wait??? Aren't they coming out with one?

Pokemon might not be christian but it's not evil. Christian's sometimes loose it and just like to diss on certain things...Like that silly idea that the Symbol on Polywirl was Satanic... Very sad and untrue. *long pause* poor polywirl.

I was thinking that if Nintendo wanted to do something interesting in the spirit of the game and all was to break into Computer games and create a Pokemon MMORPG. Does the Gamecube have internet capabilities, though, because in that case you could then just do it over their network.

Pokemon's plot got soooo old after the first few seasons. Team Rocket comes EVERY episode. And the people don't act realisticly! The voice actors that did the pokemon must have been driven insane by having to say the same word all the time! I think it was a cool idea, but they made it too kiddy. They keep trying to think of new ideas and pokemon to keep the show going, but it's the same old thing! Nowdays in the latest episodes, they are replacing Team Rocket with Team Aqua. I think that's better than keeping Team Rocket around, but don't you guys think that it will turn out to be the same old thing anyways?



I think DBZ is losing popularity because it ran out of episodes, and DBGT totally and utterly sucks. Also, I've heard that most people liked the Cell Saga the best (As do I!), so I think that made the Buu saga, the end of DBZ, a bit anticlimactic. That might have lost a few viewers. But DBZ still has ultrillions of fans (one of which is me). They just don't put as much priority into watching reruns.

I think that Pkmn died whn they started coming out with all the movies (lame plots, lamer villians, even more useless new Pokemon)...that no one liked... and then it was all downhill from there.

Heh...I kinda liked Pikachu's jukebox... I also liked the movies, but I've only seen up to Pokemon 3 and Mewtwo Returns.
