Pleats are pretty easy, actually. I just take a strip of paper, fold some small pleats, bend it to shape and glue it to the main outfit. I think I'll do Michiru/Sailor Neptune next...

Well, since they're made of paper it's not a good idea to get them wet. But overall, I think they're much more durable than regular paper dolls. Also, Rei/Sailor Mars!

Sadly, no. Necks are one of the most difficult aspects of origami human figures. Most of the human figures I've seen don't really have necks (this one and Kasahara's Adam and Eve come to mind), though I personally think that it doesn't detract from the appearance too much. Afterall, you can only do so much with folded paper.
