I believe you mean Dietrich Bonhoeffer. That isn't meant to simply be nitpicking, but I note it because I found the book very interesting. How far are you in it right now? It is difficult reading, in my mind (translation rarely improves texts, either), but worth the thoughts involved.

I'm nearly through with The Call to Discipleship. Yeah, it's a little tough on the attention span sometimes but it is enlightening and I do enjoy it.

i just finished reading Marcia Schuyler by Grace Livingston Hill

its like romance and it was a decently long book but i enjoyed it a ton

I just finished Till We Have Faces (thanks, Ash!) and Walk Back the Cat.

I've been in the middle of Velvet Elvis for a while. It's really a book you read slowly and chew carefully. If you've ever wished there were more books like The Ragamuffin Gospel or Blue Like Jazz, you should check out Velvet Elvis.

For "candy" books (the term me and my coworker at the bookstore have for read-in-two-nights, light fiction works) I'm reading A Bride Most Begrudging. Why I even admitted that ... I don't know.

The Song of Roland. The technique of the poetry is not particularly notable, but the story itself is very well-shaped.

Tolstoy's Resurrection. I didn't enjoy this book as much as his earlier novels, largely because of the author's comments about organized religion. However, the book was at least an interesting read.

I read this a couple of months ago, but if you haven't read it and want to try something that will grab your heart, read "The Memory Keeper's Daughter." Story: Twins are born on a snowy night, with only the doctor (father) and a nurse attending. The girl has Down Syndrome, the father tells mother she died, but he really gives her to a nurse to take to an institution. The nurse walks into the institution, sees how dehumanizing it is, takes one look at the baby in her arms and flees with her. The book is about the effect of these two decisions on all the lives involved. It is also about art and whether it has the power to heal.

It's my first time reading through the series^^ The whole set was lent to me, since the only thing I've done is seen the movie when it came out. Well, at least they're all pretty short. Still, time is somethign I need to go through them all^^

The Flower War - Tad Williams, not as completely engrossing as Otherland series but since it is a single volume it doesn't feel quite so ponderously tedious or copious in detail. Much more on the side of horror than his other works, it mixes sci-fi and fantasy very well

Living Jesus: Learning the Heart of the Gospel by Luke Timothy Johnson

It has been an interesting read so far. He begins with differentiating between the way we consider a person who is dead and one who is alive, then applies that to our consideration of Jesus today. A fairly scholarly work, but I haven't read enough to judge it extensively.

I'm half-way through Christ Plays in Ten Thousand Places: A Conversation in Spiritual Theology by Eugene Peterson. He has such an interesting point of view and brilliant insight. I love his writing on creation testifying the glory of God.
