Friday Night Witnessing

Postby Kisa » Fri Feb 06, 2004 11:10 pm

Every Friday night a bunch of students at my college go out to different places over town and witness to people. Please pray that this continues to go well as many have been saved already. I will start keeping an update on how it is going. God was great tonight as at least 5 people accepted Christ!

That is such a wonderful idea. It would embolden cowardly Christians like me. ;) My school should have a program like that. I will definitely pray for that. BTW, what are you doing to disciple these new Christians?

Also, how exactly does it work, do you guys split up, go in pairs, go to bars, do you pick places in advance...tell me more about it.
Our lives are but a vapor, let us not let waste our time and breath on vanities, but let us spend ourselves for the Kingdom, seeking a better resurrection.

That is such a wonderful idea.

*nod nod* I was just thinking that after reading BelldandyMewMew's post. I hope things will continue to go well, as always I'll be praying. And if it isn't too much trouble I'd also like to know more about what all you are doing ^.^
"Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
and things are not what they seem.
Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art; to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul."

Yes, I agree with others. Belldandy, that is a very cool idea. I will most certainly pray for you and the others and your ministry.

That is great to hear, Belldandy. ^_^ I will definitely be praying for you. Stay safe and remember the buddy system. Also, what type of tracts do you use (thinking back to the day when we used the golden booklets put out by Campus Crusade for Christ), if you use any?

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Yeah, I am very shy when it comes to talking to people I don't know, especially sharing the good news with them. I am always afraid I will scare them off or something because I don't know what to say. . .
For these new Christians we hook them up with a local church near their area and keep in contact with them. We use the buddy system and go to places like the nursing home and the mall and a strip mall and door to door and the movie theater.
We use these small notecardx tracts right now, but we are on the search for better ones (if anyones has any websites for free tracts please let me know!). . .
I have never really done this before and my friends got me into it and I really enjoy doing it. I mean, I am super nervous and all, but in the end I realize you have to think of where they arte going if you don' try. My friend helped me with my fears of scaring people off by saying this:

"Fear to witness
When it comes to witnessing, we should be careful what we say to people and even hesitant to share Christ with them because of the fear that we might turn them away from Him and ruin any further chances that other Christians might have of witnessing to those people. We need to be afraid of witnessing and very cautious with it because we could turn them against Christ and then we would be causing them to turn away and go to Hell. Or do we... If they aren't saved, they are already going to Helll to start with, so with us saying nothing, it isn't changing their status at all, but saying that we don't really care either way where they go. By following God in witnessing to people, we are doing all that we can do and if we seek God and His direction in it and let Him speak through us, what do we have to fear? We are doing His work and we just have to leave the rest up to Him to work on the people's hearts. "

He really helps me get used to this new witness thing for me and I am thankful for him. :)

Well it is Friday night and we got back from witnessing again. We went to the plaza again and hung around the bus stop and a mcdonalds on the corner. My witnessing buddy and I talked to several people. Most said they were saved but couldn't really back it up, and so we prayed for them and left them a track. A couple were saved and we got to have some talks with them which was nice. There was one girl though that was under a very strong conviction. Her parents and sister are all strong Chrisitans and she thought she was saved because they are, but we were talking to her and it seemed like she thought she had all the time in the world to accept Jesus. We tried to explain how important it was, but she wasn't ready to commit. Pray for her. There was also this other guy who swore every other wordx and went on about how all his problems are because God doesn't care. He hopped on a bus before we could respond. Pray for him as well and all the others we talked to tonight. All in all it was a good night though sharing Jesus and among the other groups that went out to different places, 3 or 4 people got saved! Praise Jesus! Continue to pray that God will continue to use us to help people find Him.

Well, I didn't get to go last Friday becuase I was at the Pillar concert (I know I know) but I heard 3 people got saved. There was a big turnout and some HS kids showed up and are going to start one in their own schools! This would be great. Hopefully I will be able to go this week, I am still sick, but pray for those who are going that God will use them! Thanks for your prayers!

Get well soon, eh? Sounds like an excellent turnout though ... with some real progress made, too! :thumb:
