I like SEED and all but I certainly don't think it deserves No 1. Not by a long shot. And since when was it and SEED Destiny considered the same show...

I'm glad One Piece got high up...but much of the rest of the results came out rather skewed. Pokemon beat Naruto? Guess the fillers really did hurt it.
But, regardless, this is why I don't put much stock in popularity polls.

Because in Japan, they seem to LOVE SEED. My friend bought a bunch of Japanese Newtypes and there was Gundam SEED this, Gundam SEED that @_@... the overratedness drove me nuts! And with Pokemon, it's EVER so (and still) popular in Japan... so I'm not surprised with that either. I mean, if it wasn't popular it wouldn't be running like HOW many seasons now?

I'm more then shock that Gundam Wing is on the list in the first place. I thought people in Japan didn't like it as what the overseas fans say.

But, regardless, this is why I don't put much stock in popularity polls.

This is very true. It's a popularity poll and some times its not fair on who gets pick.

I just looking at the top ten made me not want to look at the whole list. I'm not a fan of OP, but I know its big over in Japan and has a hit fan base here, so I think its fair for it to have a top spot in it as well as EVA, Cowboy Bebop and MSG.

But I don't agree with MSG Seed being in the top ten at all and as much as I love FMA, I think it should be a top 20 in the list IMO, but not a top ten. The other shock is that Macross is not even on the list, IMO that should be in the top ten, but maybe how old the anime is, people are forgeting about it now?

The same goes for USA Newtype. It has had Gundam Seed on the cover more then any anime that I have seen so far, since they started Newtype USA mag. It was the reason why I stop buying it for a bit, because it had one story about Seed in it at one point.

I'm aware of it's popularity. Still, I had thought Naruto was beating it in the TV ratings. But I haven't looked at the Japanese TV ratings in awhile so...

Well, Gundam X is on there as well. And that's the one that was cut short.

Yeah, it's on the list. Look at #59. Rather far down but...

Actually, a lot of old anime is on there. I see Saint Seiya, FotNS, Urusei Yatsura, Ashita no Joe, Captain Tsubasa, Future Boy Conan and a number of old mecha series.

Too bad Monster isn't on that. It's highly underrated. If more people saw it, it would get higher marks. Monster is on the top 10 at ANN.

Well Paranoia Agent is on there, so that's good. I don't understand why the top 5 are up there though.

Yay One Piece, Mobile Suit Gundam, Laputa, Nausicaa, Macross, 08th MS Team, Fireflies, Totoro, and Jin-Roh.

The other ones...either I haven't seen them, they're not released here, or I'm just not a big fan.

Anime's becoming very trendy these days...I wonder how many of these would actually stay on the list no less than a year from now. I miss the old stuff. :(

Sadly, I don't think I actually like anything that's come out in the last five years. I'm so old.

I agree totally with MasterDias' assessment of SEED; I'd have expected any of the rest of the top 5 to beat it out. Personally I enjoyed what I watched of it, but it just dragged out too long to hold my interest. (Which is strange because I liked Detective Conan. ) I guess, though, that it's like Tenshi no Ai said--the popularity in Japan greatly supercedes its popularity here in America.

I'm also a little surprised that Inuyasha ranked as low on the list as it did. Interesting to see Shin-Chan on the list; I'm not as familiar with it, but since Adult Swim is supposed to start running it shortly Stateside, I'm interested.

Titles I was surprised to not see:
FLCL (very suprised)
Trigun
Outlaw Star
Theme Scripture: Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)

And a verse for all us single folks: Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? (1 Corinthians 9:5)

Wow, I can't believe Millennium Actress got such a low rating. That was a fantastic movie. And I'm disappointed and a little surprised to not see Rurouni Kenshin on that list at all...Also, though I enjoyed Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha (63) and thought it was a very cute series, I wouldn't have put it above Sailor Moon, and I would have totally put Utaware on there somewhere. Sure, it's not the be-all end-all of anime, but it is a good series. *shrugs* Funny how opinion differs, I guess. XD

Ack, I need my head check. I didn't even look that far down the list and I thought it was Top 50, not the top 100.

Well, Gundam X is on there as well. And that's the one that was cut short.

Yeah, I saw that and that was a shock, since it cut short and most gundam fans in the states like G Gundam as AC story, but I'm glad that its not on the list.

And not all Gundam is on the list. 0080 and 0083 are not on the list. Funny, that people in Japan don't care for 0083 that much, like they do here in the States and 0080 to me should have been on the list, but they like Gundam F91?

About Outlaw star, it was hit in Japan, but not a big hit like Cowboy Bebop, which they both came out in the same year.

I have mix feelings about this poll.

Hey, I love Gundam SEED and can see why it's #1. It's the fans; they love the characters in this anime and I can't blame them. The battles are fun and the storyline is awesome. I don't see why it wouldn't be there.

Also, T.M. Revolution performs some of the SEED songs. So, you can see another reason there, too, I guess.

So, yeah, I'm glad it made first place. Although, I'm sure people disagree with me that it should even be on the top five. XD; Well, everyone has their own opinion.

5) One Piece

YATTA!! Guess the recent Arc really did some good for it (wait, is "nation-wide" referring to Japan or here?). =D

okay. i've never seen neon genesis evangelion before so yeah.

I have. Why it's so popular, I'm not totally sure (and I'll leave it at that), so I'd say that yeah, Cowboy Bebop and One Piece are the ones that most deserve it (Bebop... just because, and One Piece manages to attract all audiences pretty well).

Apparently, it's referring to Japan (since it was NewType Japan and not NewType USA). That was a point of confusion for me too, at first. XD

Poll giver: I will give you two cookies if you pick Gundam Seed.

Poll taker: Make it three and you have yourself a deal.

Cookies? Who wants cookies when you can have onigiri (rice balls) and aquarius instead?

Interesting, thanks for posting that list.

From what I've seen in reader polls in NTUSA re: Japanese favorites, Gundam basically seems to be an institution over there. Personally, I've never watched it nor do I have any immediate plans to. Straight mecha or finghting anime is not my interest.

I was happy to see Cardcaptor Sakura in the top 10, even though it's been awhile since it was released. Yay for CLAMP!

Fate/stay night and Haruhi are two newer titles that are up there which I'm very interested in watching.

Unless I missed it, I didn't see The Vision of Escaflowne in there anywhere, which is quite a disappointment. It's an awesome anime and one of my favorites.

Just for fun (and because I'm bored) I counted how many of these I had seem at least a volume of, and I've only seen about 1/4 of the anime listed on there. (27/100)
