Siblings and College

Postby zelda » Wed Aug 16, 2006 12:44 pm

tomorrow my brother is going to college. he is one of my best friends and i can't stand the idea of being the only kid in the family(i'm not a little kid! it's a matter of speech!) untill i leave for college. i've been crying almost everyday cuz i don't want him to leave! so yeah, he noticed i'd miss him 100 time more then my parents would so he took me to see Lady In The Water last night, to spend time together before he leaves. I'M GOING TO MISS HIM!!!!!!

so yeah, has any1 else had siblings leave for college? do u miss them or are you happy they're gone?

I'm sorry to hear that.
...I heard that was an awful movie to watch. :P

In my family, I am the older sibling who's left for college. Although I did so somewhat gradually by going to a community college & living at home for the first 2 years.

I just moved into my apartment on monday & I MISS MY FAMILY!... well, I MISS AN ABUNDANT SUPPLY OF CLEAN LAUNDRY!

In my case, I left a sibling when I went to collge. We were close, so I can relate to some of what you said.

Fortunately, given the advent of modern communications technology it is still possible to maintain those relationships. They won't be the same, of course, but that is alright. College is a time to expand general horizons and form new relationships.

My brother left for college, and he is my best friend. I miss him, but like uc said, technology makes it easier to stay in touch.

my two older brothers left me for college a while ago, one has graduated, the other has a semi left. i was really close to my older brother, his life showed me what being a Christian was about....i missed him, but God used that time in my life to bring me closer to Him
I used to "Follow" Him because i had to....now i would give everything to follow Him.

Me check it out!

Well I'm the oldest sibling so I can't relate in that way but I did leave my family for all of last year when I went to Japan on exchange. I Know my family missed me a heap and I missed them too, it was really good to see them at the airport when I came back, I almost cried lol

I am the youngest of two, and my brother left for college... then came back. Lazy [insert profanities here] couldn't pay for the bills, and came back to 'Mommy's House'

>> needless to say, I really don't like him.

Well at least your brother knows that he's loved *eyes Q :eyebrow: *....
Anyway, random phone calls by siblings from back home are always appreciated.

(and clean laundry is a very good thing)

I'm the youngest of 6 kids, and I'm the only one left at home. It can be hard, but you'll get used to it after a while, I think.

I'm the oldest, but a very similiar situation for me...

My brother just went to his first year of college this year, as well, and he is also my best friend! Fortunately he went to one close to my school...but it definitely is difficult to not see him everyday....I get the feeling he's slightly annoyed that I call him everyday....

I don't think it was hard on him when I left for college, though...he's a pretty unemotional person.
