The Preacher man hates me!

Postby Rei » Wed Aug 16, 2006 11:23 am

Ok, this has got to be the funnyest, most scaryess (I don't think thats a word XD) thing that has ever happend to me, here goes:

First of all there is a Catholic church/school about a block from my house, the thing is gigantic..during the summer, the Pastor there asked if My boyfriend and I would take care of the church grounds once a week,(mowing, weedwacking,watering plants..stuff like that.)So sure, we did that..and got paid for it^^. Anyway, This past Monday he asked if we could do one more for him to get the place looking nice for a back to school thing he was having for the elementary kids that went to the school.So we said yeah, and started working on it...well, 10 minutes into the job my weed wacker hit a large stick, it went flying through the air,hit one of the stained glass windows and shattered it, my boyfriend turned quickly to see what happend(he was on one of those ride around mowers), as soon as he did, he ran straight into the statue of Jesus knocking it down ,an arm broke,his head is partially craked off and the moter is blown. The Preacher came screaming out of the Church cussing his head off..all the kids where staring out the windows and the Preacher was running toward us..In anycase, when my Mother found out, she nearly passed out on the floor and My dad was laughing his head off..that was terrible..I don't think I've ever heard a Pastor cuss, not to mention at someone.lol..so that was my Monday^^.

I know that Preacher hates me now...and will probably shun me from hanging out with his daughter.:(...but..That has to be the worst thing I've ever done.

Goodness, I wouldn't say it was your fault. It's a shame that you damaged the church, but it wasn't deliberate. I wouldn't worry about it too much, honestly, you didn't do anything wrong, and the Pastor's swearing is his problem, not yours.

ROFLOL!!!!!!! -___-; That's hillariously ironic...

Rei, it's not your fault. Despite the fact that you decapitated a statue of Jesus and broke a stained glass window. Somebody certainly needs to practice what they preach. I mean... whatever happened to patience, self-control, and tender loving kindness?? Has the Pastor even appologised to you or the kids yet??

It just bugs me, despite how funny it is, because when kids see a Pastor acting as wordly as anyone else, it makes people think that Christians are no different from the rest of the world.

Reminds me of a time last summer when my friend was working at a Christian bookstore and overheard the manager shouting/cursing about some order that didn't come in order that didn't come in and telling the other guy to 'Give 'em hell!!'

Wow. That is really, really funny!! XD I mean, you do an amazing job taking care of the grounds all summer, and then Murphy's Law strikes. XD It wasn't your fault at all, so don't worry about that. Look at it on the bright side--You have a really funny story to tell people now! :lol:

Ha ha. . . oh, the irony. Is he charging you for damages? Stained glass is usually really expensive.
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

Wow. Are they going to make you pay for it?
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

LOL, Thanks you guys for the support^^.

Well, once he got done talking with my parents..we owe him exactly $378.65.I have absolutly no idea how I'm gonna do that..my boyfriend is taking another job, and I'm waiting for a reply to the application I filled out. Hope fully it will work out well.

Yes, he did apologize to the kids and teachers..and a bit to us, but thats it.

Yeah, it will be a good story to tell people about, especially my kids.XD

Irony, Rii-chan. Irony. You don't expect a professing "man of God" to run up to you and cuss you out. It's just so random.

I'm sorry about what happened, Rei, but I am happy that we all could find the humor in it. Even if it is kinda sad.

...WOW... O___O

You must post it on the Outlands! Or did you already? That was great...wow...except for the part about you owing him money.
Heart of Sword's Rhapsody

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
And all and all you're just another brick in the wall
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
But Bismallah will not let me go
Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
Bright eyes burning like fire
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

Who will love a little Sparrow
Who's traveled far and cries for rest
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you!

You have no idea because you have never worked with stained glass. I suspect this amount is in fact reduced to a fraction of the cost of materials without any of the labor. While swearing was a highly impulsive reaction, I can fully understand why he did it.

That's not ironic, it's just unexpected.

EDIT: Primer on irony. Irony would be if the preacher came out and said, "Thank you so much for breaking our stained glass window!"

When someone fails and another says "good job, man," that's irony in its simplest form: they mean something other than the superficial intent of the words. When someone dies in the collapse of a bridge from which they'd gotten rich by embezzelling funds earmarked for safety mechanisms, that's not at all ironic. However, when another party looks over the edge of the bridge at the crippled and dying embezzler's body, and says "hey, good thinking stealing those guide rails," that's irony well placed.

I don't think Kae understands what Irony is, if a preacher had said thanks for breaking the glass that woudl be either A: Isanity, or B: Sarcasm, if he had just forgiven them, it would have been expected, but a rash repsonse like that from a priest I believe would pretty much be the definition of irony (description "Incongruity between what might be expected and what actually occurs:")
Hey it really sucks that you gotta pay for it though, I think if at my church if I accidently broke something, they would probobly forgive me, even if it expensive, this is insane.
