The August Coloring Contest

Well, it's time for the August Coloring Contest! ^^

But, this is actually more of a placeholder post for the contest. Hopefully things will be getting underway soon. Unfortunately I'm leaving on a week long trip tomorrow morning, which could complicate matters ^^;

The artwork is still pending but I've sent a couple of messages and if all else fails I'll be sure to get this thing started once I'm back on the 11th. The deadline will probably be a bit later this month as a result and I'll definitely be reposting the rules once the line art is up :thumb:

Edit: Well it's a little late on my behalf, but here's the rules.

-You may use any medium, as long as the image is more or less recognizable
-You may interpret the image in any way, creativity is encouraged (within the CAA's rules)
-There's two categories for winning entries, Most Creative and Best Technical
-Have fun! ^^

The deadline is Friday, August 25th.

Yes, I am actually going to join the coloring contest this month! Reason one is because I lucked out and found it before it was too late, reason two is because it's one last kick before summer is over, and reason three is...well, it sounds like a lot of fun! I can't wait until all the entries start rolling in! :D

I might enter this time...however I have been in such a horrible art slump!! =_=; I hate it....I want to draw..but nothing is coming out.

Awesome lineart Puguni! I am going to use colored pencils this time because I have a technique I want to try out. Unfortunately, using this technique will probably take a very long time, and I don't know how good it will look when I scan it back in.

I'm so excited, I'm almost half-way done with mine. XD I got inspired last night, and worked until about 3AM. o_o I just need to do some shading and detailing and stuff. And cleaning up...that kind of thing. I'm really excited, though! :D

I always wanted to enter one of theses contests ^_^

I really liked the pic.. so I figured Id give it try.

I suck with backrgounds but the butterflys pretty anyways XD

I hope I did everythin right O_o

Kya!! I LOVE yours!! And the brushes you used give such a cool texture! I also like the theme of daydreaming, it totally works!

I'm still working on mine, but if I'm lucky (and I work hard), I'll have it in by late tonight or tomorrow. It's so much fun to see the different perspectives that everyone has on the picture; everyone's is so different! But they all look really cool! :thumb:

Chibi, I have always loved your photoshop skills, and this is no exception.

Kewl Girl, I actually really like your background. And yes, the butterfly is really good. I like how it glows.

Puguni, you should post your colored version too. I really love seeing the original artist's rendition. Now, I must print and pull out the colored pencils.

Chibi, I love the texture of the leaves, the whole image is very professional looking.

I am going to do that, but I wanted to do it toward the end maybe? When people color this, I want their own ideas, and don't want it to be influenced by my rendition. ^^

Okie...here is my entry..^^; I added a lot to it, I hope it's ok.. It's a mermaid's first view at a sprite. She loved it so much that she put it in a bubble to look at it... She will let it go when it wakes up and they will be the best of friends!! ^-^v

I had a lot of fun with this!! thanks Puguni and good luck to everyone else!!!

I am posting early because I move into my dorms this weekend and college starts next week..@.@

kewl girl! everythings very nicely done!

Chibi... I just love all that stuff coming out of the hair!

and C-R what a wonderfully awesome idea! I love it... all the blues... and mermaids are just the coolest!

I hope the colors aren't to messed up.. my monitor wasn't working right... So i have almost absolutely no idea what the colors are... :sweat: I just kinda randomly picked colors and then used them... hopefully they don't clash to badly!
