Japan's Latest Anime, "Bleach Piece"

Postby Tommy » Fri Aug 04, 2006 4:34 pm

Actually, the series is called "FairyTail" and was created by the same guy who did Rave Masters. I believe he is accuaintances with Oda, but no matter, look at this:

The character models scream One Piece and Bleach.
I think it is a rip off, but the question remains, is that a ship they are in?

Look at the center character. He's got Ichigo's hair (more so the one below him) and Luffy's build.

Styles may be similiar with One Piece but I doubt it's a rip off.Btw,that dog kind of looks like Plue from Rave Master. Also the one girl looks like she could be Elie.
Need to learn more about it though, but from the example of the artwork it looks good.

That's definitely Mashima's art, all right.

But, this is admittingly the first time I've heard of this new series.
Where did you find this scan?

You can PM me the site, if it can't be posted on CAA.

Tom, did you get this off the APForums? That's where I heard about this "comparison." As someone on that site mentioned, it kinda makes sense their art would look similar, seeing as both Mashima and Oda were together with the creator of Kenshin before creating their own manga.

I heard about that; both of them worked together under Watsuki with RKenshin. I personally feel awkward by how the name hints something, in addition to that Ichigo-looking character. Still who knows, Mashima-san might have his own personal reasons for it.

I bet Plue is some kind of cameo that will appear in all of this guy's works.. lol...

It looks cool!! It's great to see Watsuki's assistants going off on their own..

but that girl definately looks like nami.

Though from seeing this I'm already interested XD; Where'd you find this? (PM me if you can't post it)

The similarities are striking, but of course the real question is how the series will be handled and how much depth the plot will have. Hm... Rave Master didn't particularly impress me, so I guess my view of this will be fairly jaudinced. Still, it is interesting enough for the similarities, so thanks for posting it.

His style has always been quite reminiscent of Oda's, and with the popularity of both One Piece and Bleach, I definitely think there'd be room for even unconscious influence. And I've definitely known artists to put quirky little tributes to their friends' characters in their work, so there may be some of that as well. There's still a lot of his own style, too, though. As uc said, we'll just have to see how the story turns out before we can draw any conclusions.

Rave isn't really original, but I find it fairly enjoyable....although I tend to like RPGish adventure/quests. Yeah, Oda's and Mashima's styles are pretty similar but if you look at his art enough and do comparisons, you will start to notice some differences.

I actually haven't been on the Apforums for awhile. I just got this from some other site.

I knew Oda and Mashima were together but I had no idea Watsuki was tied into it. Their artwork looks nothing like Watsuki's let me tell you that.
