Happy Groundhog Day!

I'm feeling a bit silly today.

If you ever meet someone born on Groundhog's Day, ask them if they saw their shadow on the day they were born.

By the way, did Punckatawny (however you spell his name) Phil see his shadow?
Idle hands are indeed the devil's playground. -_- :bang:

The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

(The End of Education)

Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge

Has anybody seen the movie Groundhog Day? (Maybe I should have mentioned this in the In The Spotlight section...)

I have seen "Groundhog Day," although not the whole movie.

I didn't know that it was Groundhog Day, and I really don't care. :P

Someone left me a message on my voice mail today that had never called me before, and said Happy Groundhog's Day, and that her and her family celebrated Goundhog's Day every year. It was quite the message and I was laughing because the tone of her voice was... wow. Anyway, I know I'm not translating the humor, so I'll spare you.

The movie was really good the first time, but gets a bit monotonous after a while. But I really loved "Ned... Ryerson!!"
