Artistic time of day?

Postby Kaligraphic » Sun Jul 23, 2006 1:44 am

I usually find myself most inclined to art around 1am or so. Not so much during the day.

Some of my best ink paintings were done in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep.

It's hotter than hades out here in the hwest... (okay, couldn't think of another word that starts with an h), but I rather prefer a cooler sleeping climate. Anyway, I'm awake, I've just done a pretty decent little piece in marker, and I was thinking about this dynamic.

So, do you have an "artistic time of day/night"?
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.

At night, usually after 8pm; I usually hit a wall about 3 in the morning

During the day, around 11am.

Agreed Kali... sheesh... its been 114 and 117s around Glendale Arizona... You make sure to open the car door and wait for the heat to role out... I personally find it difficult to drive because the steering weel gets too hot and sticks to my hands too easily. Extremely hot... and NO RAIN! : Cries : Stupid thunderstorms always split around our heat shield... yes our cities can split entire thunderstorms... in two... Every time, it's like some divine hand comes down and kills the rain and then splits the clouds...

As for art though I prefer to draw later at night about 8-11... last night I was up till 12 though... and most of the time I can only stay up till 10... I guess I take whatever time I can get though... But I've been working on the same drawing for the last few weeks now (Ragnarok R-2)

It doesn't matter I can't draw too well any way but if I did I would choose night.
It's prettier for one thing and not as hot for another.

For drawing, anywhere from 10pm to about 2am. For poetry, 7am- 10am and 9pm-3am.

Yeah, most of my drawing ideas come to me around 1:30-2AM. XD Of course, I can't go to sleep with a great idea in my head (what if I forget it? XD), so I'll stay up and sketch it, thinking I'll just do a quick sketch so I can remember what I was thinking the next day. Well, I usually have a hard time stopping on a project if I've really gotten into it, so I'll keep on drawing until I get the exact lineart I want. XD THEN I'll usually put the picture beside my bed and crash somewhere around 3AM+. XD It's almost the same with coloring, though I sometimes stop earlier, if the colored pencils that keep breaking frustrate me enough. XD

Well, I don't draw or paint or anything, but I consider my poetry a type of art, kinda.

Anyhow, I right alot of it at night, pretty much any time after dark, and some of the beginning for my best works have come at very odd hours of the morning, especially when I haven't slept at all.

I always want to sleep at night, probably because I pulled so stinkin' many all-nighters during the schoolyear. I envy all you night-owls ^^

I find that I usually work best on days when I don't have to work. For example, in two hours I have to go to work and my current inspiration level is nil. Whereas I had yesterday off and I worked for eight hours straight until my eyes were all sore O_O

I seem to work best during the afternoon and evening too.

My muse tends to be most active at night and in the afternoons. My muse is NOT a morning person.
