iTunes lack of classics

So I get this 15 dollar iTunes card from my school... I decide I'd get some music... I'm thinking "There are some beatles songs I really want, but I don't feel like buying a CD, I just want one or two songs..." So I go to iTunes, ready to buy a beatles song or two, and guess what i discover? No Beatles... They have beatles tributes galore, but not the actual beatles... "Oh no" I think to myself... So I look up the Eagles... No go... No eagles... WHAT! How can a music store (other than a specialty store, I mean) not have the Eagles? I mean, Hotel California? Come on!!!

Then there's the matter of "blame canada" which wasn't on either napster or iTunes... It's the best satirical song ever written and they only have covers of it... That's not ruddy fair... Of course, the lack of the classics (beatles and eagles) is a matter of broader significance... that just makes no sense...

Yeah I totally agree with you. They go on and on about how many songs they have but they have nothing that I want. The lack of international music is astounding.

Yeah, I tried gackt and speena too... They did have utada hikaru, though... Probably because she's got the Disney support, or something... They have one album, the one with the Japanese version of Sanctuary (which is annoying in any language...)

I put in a request for the beatles... The only thing is, I'm sure they're often requested... I mean, come on, it's the beatles...

I think it's a matter of whether or not the bands will permit iTunes to distribute their music. Or at least that's what I kind of more or less heard O_o

Actually, that's primarily because international music is only available in the iTunes music store for specific countries.

For instance: Matthew Good/Matthew Good Band. Despite the fact that the Matthew Good Band released a record in America and that he does have a following here, the fact that he's a Canadian artist means that only the Canadian iTunes Music store has Matthew Good's music (save for that one record)

I changed to the Japanese store. "Your account is only valid for purchases in the US store. Clicking OK will take you back to that store"

Apple must die... Regional lockouts are rediculous...

I can take comfort in the fact I can still look up Japanese songs without being on my account, and listen to 30 second demos so I'll know what to download illegally on limewire or emule... hint hint... Apple, you're a bunch of idiots... Darn it, I mean that only as a hint... I'm bad at hints...

How do you change your store location? It's annoying that you can't get most of the Japanese/foreign music on there. They do have some classics, unfortunately the Beatles are not one of them...

It seems to me that it may be a matter of nationalist protectionism gone overboard, much like we see in this whole DVD region encoding garbage. In this respect, it is possible Itunes does this to avoid lawsuits caused by this whole "licensing game" we see in many forms of media by carrying a product that has not been licensed in its licensing region.

Completely off topic: Matthew Good actually has some fans south of the border? Coolness! I've heard so many horror stories of Canadian acts unsuccessfully trying to translate their popularity over to the US
