From what I recall reading in the piece on Trinity Blood in Newtype some time ago, it sounds like Gonzo's just trying to recapture the magic of Hellsing.

The mangaka of Trinity Blood (Sunao Yoshida) died, so they just capped everything and gave the anime a lame ending.

Actually, both manga and anime are based on a series of novels, if I recall, and I'm uncertain as to their status. Of course, Wikipedia could probably clear that up for anyone who is interested.

There is a slight chance I will watch this, because from what I have seen (five episodes) the story looks as though it is significantly better than its premise. Though it is another case of the author not really doing any research about Christianity, at least Abel seems fairly priestly the majority of the time and doesn't go on any Anderson-esque killing sprees.

Why should he? He's not interested in an accurate portrayal, it's just a "cool" set of trappings for the story.

I've heard it starts off pretty good and goes down hill towards the end, but I'll watch it anyway, because it's about vampires.(lame reason, I know. lol) I've heard it's kinda like a mix of Hellsing and Trigun.

For anyone who may be interested, it was the author of the original novel series that died before the novels reached their end. I thought the manga was still going, but I'm not sure.

Well, some of us feel that knowing something about what you write about is simply authorial integrity. I, for example, am fairly familiar with Buddhism but I would never write something involving it without first studying to make sure what I wrote was accurate. If it was something to be professionally published, I would probably go so far as to consult people who actually are Buddhist.

But I realize your question was rhetorical and your point still stands.
