It seems to be legitimate. The dog has a website devoted to her -- The owner appears to be a devout Christian.

I'm quite sure it's legit. A few weeks back I caught the tail end of an episode of Oprah focusing on people that had survived extreme situations. I ended up going '..WHA?!' when I saw a two legged dog hop across the stage during the credits.
