Poll: Best Miyazaki Heroine

Miyazaki almost always uses a female protagonist in his movies. But which one do you like best? I excluded the main characters in Whisper of the Heart and Only Yesterday because those characters don't face any real dangers.

I really like Kiki (and her friend Ursula). Nausicaa comes in a close second.

i really really cant pick..

i like them all for so many reasons. I like chihiro because she really evovled in the movie. she went from being stuck up and whatnot to caring less about herself. she really grew up. but then i like San because she is a very headstrong, tough character and cares alot about nature like i do. Shes afraid of almost nothing. Sheeta and her world was just very magical.

I dunno... i would expand on the other characters, but im lazy. XD

i just like all of them. i cant pick just one. Hayao Miyazaki is ah-may-zing.

((have you noticed that almost all of his girl characters have short hair, also?))

Actually, the reason he uses women so much is that he's a feminist. I found that out in the documentary on the Nausicaa DVD.

Feminist, maybe, but I have a hard time telling them all apart. They're very derivative of one another.

And, quite frankly, my favorite Studio Ghibli 'heroine' is Taeko from Omohide Poro Poro. I think she's quite real -- cut out of the same cloth as the others, but definitely more of a 'person' than a construct.

I went with Chihiro..mostly because her name is so cool to say, and also because her personality goes through the most dramatic change throughout the picture. She goes from being really moody and snobby, to a really caring and emotional person.

Also she had, in my opinion, one of the cutest "love scenes" with Kohaku in an anime! I love the scene when they're falling through the air when he Kohaku (Haku) remember's his name!

I had to go with Kiki.

NAUSICAA!!! Especially in the manga. Fujiko didn't make the cut? I guess she's not techniquely a Miyazaki original heroine...or a heroine of any kind for that matter.

I voted for San even though my favorite character in the movie is the woman who leads Iron Town.I think they both qualify as being genuine heroines, each in her own way.
