Otakon 2006? :D

Talk about anything in here.

Of course, I also have a cell phone, which I will PM to Ryan later, so he can get hold of me and say "Dude, we're right here." Unlike last year when I had no phone. XP
Ironically enough the meeting place at AX only worked once and for finding 3 of the 7 people that didn't come directly with me to the convention... due to separate arrival times, varying ticket lines and schedules we actually found the phones to be the best tool for meetings, especially for people who are trying to participate in panels and stuff.

I just remembered that I will be at Baltimore Convention Center the Thursday and maybe Saturday before Otakon for Firehouse Expo.
It starts like Tuesday with seminars up to Saturday, but Thursday is when they open the dealer exhabits to show off fire/rescue/ems apparatus and anything emergency personel will buy.
They use the whole downstairs area and some for the show where for Otakon they divided up the area for the dealers room, art area, gaming area and large threater area.
Last year my fire company's new ladder truck was on display in the area where Otakon's dealers' room was.
If I go back Sat. I will go for the fire apparatus miniture model show that will be held in the lobby area where registration is over near the elevator and to look at somemore things.

Heh, you know...it's funny. Ryan, Josh, and myself went to the mall to have lunch, and on the way there, a Christian organization was handing out pamphlets regarding salvation to the people walking by. We told the person we were already saved, though I don't know if they actually believed us. XD

I'm hoping they weren't passing out pamphlets simply because there was an anime convention and they assumed anyone who likes anime is a heathen, but...I have a feeling that is the case. :\

ah i remember a messianic jewish church was also giving out pamphlets at harbour place. he was a pretty cool guy, we talked for a good 3-5 minutes.^^;; after that he was convinced i didnt need a pamphlet. tho i took a few to give to my more "church resistant" friends.

Can you care to explain why? You haven't done so. So far all you have done was just make up corny excuses.

I already have explained it to you several times... but I'll say it again one last time.

Here are the reasons why I won't be going:

1) It costs me money in two ways:
a) I will have to pay for registration
b) The days that I could be working to get money will be taken by me being at Otakon.
The money is really important because I will be not only going to college at the end of August but also because I will be living on campus, thus I have more expenses.

2) I don't think I would enjoy it because of my first reason... I would be thinking about all the money I am losing because I am at Otakon and on top of the expenses already mentioned I would be more than likely tempted to purchase MORE anime/manga merchandise at the shops.

3) I just would rather not go this year, is that a crime?

1. I will pay you for your regristration and your days off. Yes thats about 100 dollars or 150 dollars. I will pay

I repeat I WILL PAY And I am not kidding either [/MSP has a job at wendys and will make money]

Why? Because I know it is something you will enjoy. I know you will regret missing out on seeing all of us as a group. And I don't want you to miss that opportunity. Thus I am 100% going to pay for you. All expenses covered, including food. Plus if you don't go me, crystal, nami, and kaemmerite will bug you every day and send you PMs as to how you missed out on so much. How much fun we had. You wouldn't want that would you?

And you have a full ride in college, don't talk "espenses" to me  I know you're got everything for free. Free meals, dornm, tuituion, etc.

I was thinking the same thing. You have no room to talk about expenses. I pay bills and rent. And I am taking off a day to go. So you have no room to talk.

So Ryan, does this mean that if we're hanging out around town and decide to get some grub and you want, say, some bourbon chicken for lunch, you won't be strapped for cash and having to decline and recline because you blew the last of your dough in the dealers' room on a chintzy FMA watch that's gonna break inside of a week? Huh? Does it? Not that I wouldn't hold you down again, of course. ;)

On another note... boy, I just can't wait to meet all these other people. Last year it was mainly me, Nathan, Ryan and Nate. I met SpiritWolf and EvilSporkOfDoom on Friday, but as I understand it, they didn't show up again til Sunday, just as I was leaving. I'll be happy to see you all there!

There's no way we're gonna be able to. With this many people and lack of cars, plus the only drivers are like meboeck and kaemmerite, and I doubt Kamerite will beable to go to Reisterstown.

I was in Baltimore City today to attend Firehouse Expo at the convention center. I came up I-295 and turn in at the drive to Camden Yard and parked between the baseball and football stadiums and walked to the center. While walking along the trolley tracks to the main corner near the center I could see a high raise building that is under construction that was not there last year. Last year it was a large pay by the day parking lot across from the west end of the convention center.
This means that another parking lot in Baltimore City has bit the dust.
The building under construction is a new Hilton Hotel that will be connected to the convention center.
Does the loss of this parking lot mean anything to those attending Otakon.
For me it means finding somewhere to park that my 7 foot tall pickup truck will fit.

I didn't have one place I parked every time last year, so it doesn't change much for me this year. Plus I will be coming from a different route tthis year so I will have to figure things out all over again anyway.
