It's Extreme Championship Wrestling. Like WWE, but without a rulebook.

maybe..just maybe... The contestants are really aliens in human suits! And they come riddled with totally tricked out weaponry. Like a water gun or a feather for tickling?

orr....maybe Scifi has lost their already small mind?

I'm pretty sure that happened a long time ago. They've actually had some vampires and zombies on the show, so there you go, the Sci for the fi. Anyways, ECW has seemed a little lackluster since WWE brought it back. Fortunately that's beginning to change.

I really enjoyed the opening and closing matches for WWE. Sabu was awesome. I wonder why WWE didn't pick him up and put make him a regular on Smackdown? He would of been a great addition to the Cruiserweights, who already don't get enough air time. Also RVD and Kurt Angle put on an awsome match, especially towards the end. I enjoyed watching RVD get a clean pin for once.

The thing that is bugging me the most is that stupid stripper they have on the show. I don't like it. When I watch wrestling I don't watch it for a bunch of "good looking" girls. I watch it for the actual wrestling. I think that's the WWE's biggest problem right now. They focus to little on the wrestling. Well that's my two cents on the matter anyways. I will continue watching it hopping that the progress will continue.

So if we're having wrestling on Sci Fi channel now does that mean we can have
anime on ESPN and auto racing on C-SPAN?

Sci-fi showing wrestling is as dumb as cartoon network showing a live action show like, say, Saved by the Bell... *thumbs down, particularly since he hates wrestling*

Why not? So we can have more time for poorly made b movies? *shrug* if the ratings are good, they will keep it. I happen to like wrestling, and don't much care what station its on. But it will give people somthing to cry over for a while I guess.

But we are talking about Sci Fi Channel and not SPIKE Tv.The entire point of
Sci Fi Channel is to show SCIENCE FICTION,as well as Fantasy and Horror shows.

My point exactly. But I guess they figure if CN can get away with Saved By the Bell.

The reason its on Sci-Fi channel is, because Sci-Fi and USA network are own by NBC.

Since WWE has RAW on USA network, they didn't want to put ECW on the same channel. NBC only wants to have Sat night main event on NBC and WWE wanted ECW on a channel that they don't have to worry about it being edited.

So, they put it on Sci-Fi channel.

Sci-fi has ben playing some weird stuff lately...

Well, I mean, it's normally weird... haha. But, they're playing some non-sci-fi stuff... It's kind of scaring me.

The only reason ECW is on Sci-Fi is because NBC doesn't want it and USA already airs Raw.

As for Passions airing on Sc-Fi... it's a big stretch, but there is some vague sci-fi stuff in a few epsiodes.

It's probably mostly a result of corporate consolidation, but really it's nothing too uncommon for cable networks to step outside or redirect their formats these days. Just ask the folks at G4.

Regarding ECW... just to clarify for those not as familiar with wrestling, ECW was a wrestling promotion back in the '90s. During the wrestling heyday in the late '90s, ECW was seen as the renegade #3 promotion that was an alternative to WWE (then WWF) and WCW, the big two promotions at the time. ECW was well-known for its "hardcore," anything-goes style, but also stressed more technical wrestling and less of the theatrics found in the big two. WWE bought ECW in 2001, but has since released a number of DVDs focused on ECW's history, and earlier this year announced that they'd be bringing back ECW, but this time as another "brand" under the WWE umbrella.

My 2 cents... Part of the problem with ECW is probably due to the fact that they're taping most of the episodes as an opening act for Smackdown, rather than in the smaller arenas where the original ECW was filmed. The crowd really played a big role in making the atmosphere of the old ECW. For the July 4 episode, though, I believe they're supposed to film it by itself at the old ECW Arena in Philadelphia, so it will be interesting to see how this episode compares to ECW eps. in recent weeks.

But honestly, I'm finding TNA Wrestling more interesting right now.

Nope, this was a Supershow weekend. SmackDown and Raw were both taped on Monday, so the ECW show (although it will be taped today) will also be at the Wachovia Center.

You are correct about it being at Wachovia. Though since SD! was taped last night (let alone the fact that it was in Philly), the crowd tonight (at least what I saw) seemed to be clearly more of an ECW crowd than previous weeks. (I didn't watch the entire show, so fortunately I missed the whole Kelly bit.) :shake:

I thought it was weird myself....
you see, my boyfriend likes wrestling and has turned it on at my house several times, so, I didn't realise that we were even watching the SCIFI channel until it went to commercial adn I was like "HUH?"
how weird....
I mean, ok, I understnad that channels sometimes do things that are seemingly against their norm....
like cartoon network showing liveaction films....
but, seriously now.
