GITS is also highly episodic, at least having the stand-alones mixed in with the complex ones.
Some of you who have seen Monster would know if it tends to be episodic or if the plot builds through the episodes.
What I think we're not going to see too much of for a while from Adult Swim is the Witch Hunter Robin or even Wolf's Rain serialized sort of stuff where you have to keep watching the story to figure it out. Of course, they're still showing Eva, right? But Eva has so many different levels...even if one doesn't get the bigger picture one can still watch it for the action (ok, I know I need to get off that specific topic).
