Go ahead, Claria, maybe you should sue the millions of us who call you what you are

This part of this post is old (2003) but I was certainly unaware of this

"If we find anyone publicly calling us spyware, we correct it and take action if necessary," said Scott Eagle, Spyware program Gator's senior vice president of marketing. (from C|Net, 2003... italics are my words)

Gator and the other names it goes by is spyware. It takes advantage of tech-stupid people, it is invasive, and to sue someone for calling it something... Hahaha... Sue me, you freaking leeches.

I remember gator... right up there with bonzi buddy, it was the worst piece of spyware out there... It would install with all sorts of shareware games and pieces of software, monitor your surfing, and send your info to their advertisers...

Well, I read an article in Wired (sorta old, December of 2005) that said they changed their name, but use the same methods and have actually grown rapidly... They're still doing it, and suing anyone who tries to stop them... How is this possible? So, someone accidentally installs one of Claria's programs, and they want to get rid of it, but they can't because all spyware searches that would have picked them up have to take their stuff out of their list, otherwise claria sues them... Does that sound sick to anyone else?

I just don't get the legal world... They must be serving a hefty dose of crazy at law school, these days. It all started with that McDonald's coffee in the crotch lady... Ever since that first of the grossly frivolous lawsuits, the world has gone crazy... That judges even listen to some of this prattle and entertain a trial for one of these suits is beyond me, but to award the people money for being greedy... Beyond sick...

Claria serves spyware... That's right... Sue me, you greedy, pretentious, mindless nits... And rot in your stupidity, legal system. I have no faith left in you...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claria

That's the wiki on them... They link to cnet article http://news.com.com/2100-1032_3-5095051.html which is rather old

This is the Wired article that I saw to begin with (I saw it yesterday at school) http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/13.12/spyware.html

So... that's what I have right now...

What I didn't realize is that Yahoo and Google keep records of what sites you visit for their ad services... Well, it's official... The internet isn't anonymous, so watch what you do, because as the military identification thefts and the other mass theft of identity information recently has proven, you don't know who's going to have access to your info... All it takes is one stupid employee with your stuff on a hard drive on his laptop...

Yeah I remember when I had different Spyware removal programs (those of which were trials and expired, or just plain don't work on my system anymore :/) and stuff like "gator" were common names that would appear... oh MAN I remember when I was younger I downloaded Bonzi Buddy, just cause it looked dumb :/ ...while later I realize it was a bad thing :/ Spyware's just plan blarg :/

I don't get the suing if you call them "spyware" :/ Personally, legal things can be really ridiculous from cases like that, to "you copied my name/idea!!!" -_-; It's just sad...
