Well got there settled in for the week.
Sunday attended two seminars, 1 for length of service pensions for volunteer personnel and auxliliary members and emergency preparations 2 for emergency personnel safety on highways and roadways.
Sunday night was the memorial service for all the personnel who died through the year. Two firefighters died in service to the country in Iraq.
Monday was the opening ceremoneies with the Washington DC FD bagpipes and drums and a marching band that has been part of the convention for years. The governor and Lt governor also addressed the convention.
Then there was the nominations of the officers to serve for the year.
Monday evening my county had a beach party and the Wash. DC FD pipes and drums group came by to entertain us all.
After that everyone left to watch the fireworks display at the convention center.
Tuesday elections were held for trustees and by-law changes because the other positions had no contest for the offices.
The fire companies from my county had a caucus and while we were meeting a thunderstorm came up and put a hold on the picnic that was being held behind the convention center until it cleared up.
But things got scary on the beach in downtown Ocean City because a water spout formed on the beach and picked up a life guard stand and threw it 30 feet down the beach. Lucky everyone was off the beach because of the storm.
I attended a seminar on how to make your fire prevention open house a good one.
Wednesday was the last day and there were drawings for give aways and the parade.
Thursday I went shopping and had my photos developed and went and saw two movies.
Friday was getting ready to come home and finish any shopping I needed to do and drive into Delaware and back.
This morning packup meet one of the members of my fire company and travel back together.
I still need to put somethings away after unpacking.
Oh well I need to get someother things done tomorrow and back to work Monday. I have some info I need to pass to the boss that might be looked into for safety operations.
