Girlfriend??

Talk about anything in here.

Actually, Felix, I think you're dead on. I think you should only date girls/guys you've been friends with for a while. Don't date strangers. For "just 15," you seem to be pretty bright. :D

I say don't think about the fact that you're a guy and she isn't. Just don't count it as a heavy factor. Just be her good friend and enjoy not having to look for a mate. But I wouldn't suggest trying for any kind of "pairing off" whether that's dating OR courting. It closes too many doors too early. Not being bound in that sort of relationship makes it easier to have multiple friends of the opposite sex. I have more girl friends than guy friends by far, and I love it. There's no strings attached. It's freedom. Freedom ish GOOD.

1. I wasn't supporting arranged marriages, just saying that using the Bible as your basis for "Dating is teh evil" won't work if you are also in support of courting.

2. In cultures where arranged marriage are still prominent (such as India) they almost never end in divorce (compared to the "love marriages"), because it was never about their choice to begin with, but they learn to stay comitted to each other...

Now, as for Kaligraphic, I'd say that... no, it wouldn't be better in american or brittish or aussie or kiwi or norwegian or german etc) cultures to have arranged marriages... It's sorta like banning alcohol... If, in a culture, alcohol usage isn't prominent, then you can do it just fine, but if you take away something comfortable that people have had for a long time, they fight back (prohibition and the subsequent mafia problems) It would be impossible to do in most countries that have dating and courtship in their cultures... Oh, and parent's are not the best judges of who'd work best together, but in a culture of arranged (by the parents) marriages, this isn't an issue... This doesn't count matchmakers and such into the equation, though, with varying degrees of contact with those they are going to match... The point is, a system exists in our culture that is neither good nor evil, though it has it's strengths and weaknesses, so trying to change it with the Bible as your reason is rather pointless...

EDIT: GAh, there's like another half a day's worth of responses here that the page wasn't showing me!!

Yeah I'm 15 and I didn't think it was a good idea to have a girlfriend this early before. But now I am going out with girl because I really couldn't stop my self with her, cause she's just amazing. But I don't recomend dating this early for most people, inless you find a girl you just can't not date.

I know dating is looking for someone your going to marry...but I also know it can take years. I'm in no rush... there is no pressure... Along the same lines to all you girls ou there, I have a girl who is a friend, and she is my bestest friend. Whenevr I see her i sometimes randomly tackle her... I know she knows i don't do the dating thing... But from your perspective what would you be thinking?

Hey,I'm 25 and i'm still single. I hope to have a girlfriend someday though. I never had a date, due to the fact that a majority of Staten Island Girls are Slutty.

I don't think people can't not date... it's thier choice... I mean I would absoluteley love to date this girl but i don't think i'm ready yet... So I'm waiting... even if that means losing her

You know that's quite the mature thing to say, and to do. People rarely follow up with that kind of reasoning. In this culture, we have to have what we want, when we want it, and we usually want it right now. Actually waiting patiently for something - or someone - is so uncommon, sometimes even if we want to wait, we feel pressured into giving into our feelings right away, right?
Obviously, God designed us with certain urges and desires, it's just up to us to make sure we don't get ahead of ourselves, because God will fullfill every one of those desires when the time is right.
At a youth convention I went to this spring, the speaker invited everyone to take a covenant to not date at all or get involved with people of the opposite sex for exactly one year. About half the people there, including myself, took the covenant, but within a few months, about half the people I knew had already given up and given in. I thought, why? Waiting isn't so bad. It gives you time to collect your thoughts and learn more about yourself and your feelings.
Haste makes waste, so you're smart to play it safe and wait ^_^ Good man.

I agree with everyone's statement that we should date/court with the intentions of marriage. With some people they have waited...because they can wait. I dont know how you feel specifically Cloud Strife, but some people, like myself actually, are afraid of potientally being alone for the rest of their lives and persue relationships early, and unconsciously with the intentions of marriage. Personally I had my first relationship starting just a few months ago, which I consider it to be a serious one, and I can see myself married to him and only him. And of course, all relationships have their ups and downs, mine has a few bugs, but you'll know if it right by the severity of the problems. In my personal oppinion if you want to date now, because you're worried about you future, then go right ahead. But if you are confident that you will be able to wait for romantic female companionship, then thats even better! And as everyone else has said, the most important relationship you need to work on is the one with The Almighty. You got it good with him, then you're all set bud. :thumb:

Well, I won't say I feel as if I'm ready for dating, because that would be proof that I am not. But I don't feel as if I am unready. I don't view dating as anything more than hanging out with the opposite sex for fun and amusement at this point. I'm not going to be one of the types that is like, "Oh, I love you soooo much." I'm not falling into that trap like most teens would. The problem with our teens and dating nowdays is that they can no longer distinguish between simple infatuation and true love, when the truth is, teens DO NOT UNDERSTAND true love. That's all there is to it.

A t-shirt at HotTopic:

(funny, although I don't agree with the attitude of some of the points listed)

List for those who can't read from the image:
[size=0]
Top 20 reasons why video games are better than girls
1. They come with instructions
2. They let you cheat
3. You can borrow them from your friends
4. When you go to the mall you can actually pick one up
5. They look great as soon as you wake up in the morning
6. Pause button
7. $50 is all you ever have to spend on them
8. You can always get the hottest one
9. No shower, no problem
10. It's ok to spend the evening alone with them and a 2-liter bottle of orange soda
11. You can go on "dates" in your underpants
12. Your mom won't get mad if you're in your room with the door shut
13. You get that XL pizza to yourself
14. All you have to do to make the relationship work is find a save point
15. You can ignore them for a week without consequences
16. Your friends can watch
17. No matter how many times you mess up, you can try again
18. If you're having problems with them, your friends will listen
19. You can actually get the ones in magazines
20. If you get bored you can trade them in for a new one

Yes. Because at least you never have to guess about how she feels about you. You can look at her heart meter. XP

Or in the case of the original Harvest Moon, sneak into her room, and poke around till you find her diary and see how many hearts she has in it for you.

Don't recommend this in real life though. It can get painful if you are caught.
