Well I have one friend who is going to be over the moon about the 4-0 Ukraine win!

England up against their old opponents the Swedes tomorrow, and I hear they're dropping Crouch and putting in Rooney from the start with Owen. I'm excited about that. I'm hoping to see a surprise strong victory from England with a few goals. Though, I hope for that every game!

Argentina always seem to have this ominous feeling for me. They are skillful but also strike me as arrogant and a bit dirty in their play. They'll waste time, or dive for/play up fouls more than others, at least so it seems to me. If they're a good team let them play the game instead of using the cheaper elements of the game. That why I enjoy a lot of the underdog teams, especially from Asia or Africa, because they seem to tend not to do those things but just play to their best and give it their all.

Whoa! There was some serious partying going on here in Madrid yesterday! My friend came back from the Plaza de Colon with skinned elbows and torn pants after climbing onto some concrete structure. Everybody else was safe though. Torres was SO close to a hat trick! My Spanish mother kept looking at me because I would yell at the TV in English before thinking of the Spanish translation. She doesn´t care for soccer. You know, it is rather difficult to explain the concept of offsides in a second language. Today I will watch England and the Swedes at the pub (€ 2,50 por un agua), but I´ll be at the Prado for Ecuador and Germany. Darn.

Update: Well I watched Mexico-Portugal 1-2. Great match. There seemed to be no lack of determination from both sides. I must admit I think Mexico had most chances (Even when they had 10 men on the pitch) and where very unlucky, both sides where brilliant and produced some fantastic football well worth to watch.

Woah, this is one of the best nil-nil draws I have ever seen. Argentina was the dominant side most of the time and I just have to point out Carlos Tevez. He was great and was well close to score a goal. Lionel Messi had some nice moments and they played some very entertaining football. As for the Netherlands they should have had at least 1 penalty. The did not produce that much untill the match was at its final moments.

Well then the states are out of the tornument as well as some other nations. There kinda have to be some dissapointments in the world cup. My nation lost to the Czech rep and then could not even make it to the group stages.

Well, that really means much the same. If I renember correctly the refs are equipped with some kind of elecrical device that warns them if another ref thinks there is something not right happening, like offsides our fouls. Btw if a South-Korean gave the pass to Frei then there is not much of an offside now is it?

The ball was deflected by a Korean defender, which caused the ball to go to Frei. That does not constitute offsides. Offsides can only occur on the condition that the ball is passed forward to a teammate. Since the last person to touch the ball before Frei got possession was a Korean, it cannot be offsides.

Considering that the play occured closer to the ref in the field, and he saw the play occur, he had the right to have his decision overrule the call of the sideline official.

It is just a tough break, MSP. It happens a lot in world-class soccer.

Naw, Japan isn't that good. Over the years, Korea has been significantly better than them. Japan also blew that game with Australia, they sort of got a bit cocky at the end.

Well, Australia is ranked higher than any asian team (correct me if I am wrong).Australia got Tim Cahill. He is great and I don't see any player from asia being able to match him. He scored two goals against Japan anyways so I would not see loseing to Australia as a term of being a bad football nation. The also have some other nice names at their squad as well.

Well South-Korea would not allow themself to be too fustrated on the pich, cause if they did they would most likely lose. I think South-Korea win their matches based on the tactics and their ability to read the game. Japan plays more classic I think, but they have a lack at many areas to compete against the really great teams. They do play smart though.

Once again I would love to see a friendly against these two. I think South Korea would have won 2-1 if it was to happen, but Japan can suprise at times.

honestly I think that this year's Korean roster is not that great like Jae-Jin Cho. Him and a few other players have not done much. They're passing isn't that well either, sometimes they'd slip, kick it to someone that's too far, or just pass it to the other team. That and the formations were something I'd change as well.
