Store Room with Dead Girl - My second digital painting

Postby Warrior 4 Jesus » Thu Jun 15, 2006 10:37 pm

Here is another piece I did for the Ted Dekker House Art competition.
This one is of Susan the little girl.
I can see much improvement from my first piece, but one of the legs looks really 'munted' still and I don't know how to fix it.

Anyway enjoy! (it took about 6 hours - very slow)

I don't normally do creepy pictures, but I normally don't do paintings either. Thanks FadedOne!

The dark tones in this piece really help with setting the mood for the whole work. One of the things that might help with the legs is working more with the area around the ankles. Ankle joints can be tricky at the angles you're working with, but no matter how they're bent, they don't have hard edges in them. Also, remember that calves have a slight curve of muscle just like forearms do - even if the legs are supposed to look thin or gaunt, there is going to be some curvature, not just a straight line.

This is a neat piece! The spider is a nice touch. :)

Slightly creepy...where did you come up with this idea? It's not bad, really. The gash on the arm is a nice touch, as well as the frays on the dress.

I got the idea from a suspense/thriller novel called "House". It's by Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker (two of my favourite Christian authors). Her name is Susan and she is an innocent 13 year old girl. She isn't dead, but she appears dead to the character Jack in this scene. Thanks for the comments Faerie!
