Ebay summer fever?

Postby Ashley » Tue Jun 20, 2006 10:21 pm

It's a tragic scene my wallet endures every year. During the school year, I'm so thrifty I make Scrooge look rather indulgent. But when that summer break comes, be it the heat or the sudden burst of free time, suddenly I get a materialism bug that demands I buy absolutely anything I want. DVDs, posters, manga galore, cds, books...you name it. While you guys don't have anything to worry about (this is written half-seriously, I do keep a good control of my money) I'm just curious who else experiences this.

You know you're addicted to an online game when you use actual money to buy an in-game item >_>

I blew 50 dollars for some items in FlyFF

I have a feeling us Flyffians will never hear the end of the 50 bucks you spent.

But I, too, gave in and finally bought Star Ocean 2 off of ebay... for 40 bucks. That's like... 20 bucks more than I wanted to spend. Drat.

I've been crazy about buying DVDs lately, although not so much since I counted them all and realized how many we have. I've been buying CDs too. This is partly because they've been having a lot of sales lately, and partly because I'm bored and spending money is almost therapeutic. >_>

Just got over that. Though it's not because of the season. D: It's cause of a new doll. My poor wallet. *pets it gingerly* I'm so sorry!

With me, it doesn't have to be any season. I'm very watchful of my money, but as of late. There are some good anime cels for sell on ebay.

I buy things in my head. :D I don't have an allowance and I don't have a job. So, I go to online stores and complain to my sister, "I waaaaaaaant it.... Oh, I waaaaaant that tooooooo...." Complaining to her helps. She doesn't tell me to shut up *often*.

Well, I have a nice inncome and I useually get the things I want that can be afforded, but yeah I feel that I may use too much money on myself somtimes. I have been involved with a few charity actions, but I kinda want to do more for the less economicly fortunate.

I think im gonna be useing more money on job-related stuff now, like 3d programs and some education things I can do in the summer.

I import DVDs & books from Amazon.com all the time. I'm rather indulgent all year through.

I don´t think I have problems with seasonal buying, then again, I never buy shop on-line. However, right I´m spending more than normal because I´m away from home.

I definitely go through cycles like that. I'm working on decreasing the duration of spend cycles and increasing the length of time between them.

My car eats my money. :(

But I guess spending does increase slightly after the uni year has finished (ie. summer).

It depends.
I can go bonkers at the bookstore buying books, anime and other DVDs,
graphic novels and manga if I'm not careful.

Though lately I have been trying to limit how much money I spend, which is why lately I have only been ordering DVDs from Animenation's Pre-Owned
catalogue.Ok,that and the fact I haven't been to Spokane lately.

Um nope, not really. Around Christmastime is the only time I'm guaranteed to spend a lot of money (sometimes more than I can afford).

Stupid ebay. The worst part about ebay - you have *no idea* whether your stuff will work until you get it. People say they test stuff, but they don't. I got my SO2 game in today, but lo and behold, it doesn't work. I know that's not ebay's fault, but it's easier to recount, 'stupid ebay' than it is to say 'stupid (ebay seller name)'.

send a message to the seller. I think there's a policy on ebay or something about defective items.

4MHz, Boots from DOS 2.11 from a ROM chip, 720K floppy, 2-color CGA screen, Image one of the best laptops of 1987

(I actually bought one several months ago, but it recently stopped powering on)

Lessee....six CDs and I paid eight bucks for a copy of Astonishing X-Men #2 on ebay in the past month or two, which is pretty cheap considering it was 18 at the comic shop.

That's a wiide screen! (ahead of its time, I'm sure)

You do realise the C in CGA means Colo[u]r? So I think CGA exclusively refers to 4 colour. 2 colour is monochrome. *is a geek*

Ebay and I used to get along great ... but we've been having some problems, so we're just taking a break from each other and giving one another a little space ... I'm sure we'll work things out eventually (when I get a new job ;)).

MDA was commonly used instead of CGA when it first came out. There was a lot of confusion among certain sub-sets of society (though M stands for "monochrome" and C stands for "color" so one would EXPECT it to be fairly obvious).

Read all about the differences between CGA and MDA here:

I so do this... It also doesn't help that I work alot more so there's obviously more money lying around. And on top of that I graduated and that was a big influx of cash. I've gotten a few DVD's, CD's, t-shirts, comic books, etc. I also have to buy a laptop before school starts but luckily my mom knows people that will help me get what I want cheap. And not to mention I'm finally getting my tattoo of an interpretation of the Lion of Judah.

I just bought #1 and #2 off of Amazon a couple days ago for about $10 a piece. I've heard it's so good the best series of the 2000's so far. .
