HxH is a fav of mine since I am a fan of Togashi-san XD Yeah, probably the only thing that makes it objectable is the heavy violence and gore--Togashi's trait you might say. As usual, his action sequences are marvelous and you can get so much in just one panel. But yeah, heads blow off, hearts get ripped out, limbs fly....

Another of Togashi's trait (which I am ironically in love with) is his trend to not use rulers and ink like he's an hour away from the deadline ^^;; Even though so, his stories are still engaging and I look to his sketchy-ness inking style for reference XD

Later on in the manga some characters of the Ryo-dan might irk some Christians. They got a char (the leader of the Ryo-dan) named Kuroro Lucifer (who has a roman cross on his forehead) and one of his members wears an inverted cross.

Though, not once have I read them "say" anything about God in particular, I still think it's worth the warning.

O_O I'd think HXH is WAY more graphic then Naruto or Kenshin.... or are you talking about the anime? I haven't watched that much of the HxH anime (only the Greed Island OAVs) so I wouldn't know.

But the manga is GRAPHIC. Way more than the mangas of Naruto or RK; Togashi has a great knack for detail ^^;; (and exploding heads)

Ah, ic now ^^ I've already read up to volume 15 <--2 page spread of exploding heads.

It gets hecka lot more violent and and deep as it goes along. Has Killua ripped out that guys heart yet in volume one? I don't remember, but really, things get much more graphic later on ^^

Hunter x Hunter should be licensed, but half of the violence in it wouldn't make it past the censors >__<;

What censors?
The DVDs should be totally uncut like most series(outside of 4kids releases) are, although if it winds up on the Adult Swim/Toonami blocks, it will almost certainly have quite a bit of editing for TV, just like YYH.
But I assume that the violence and such has been toned down to a certain extent in the anime, as compared to the manga as is almost always the case in manga-to-anime adaptations.

Man, I hate gore *walks off, looking rather green.*
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I meant the dubbers. Like the ones who cleaned up YYH.

Oh, and the manga is definitely more violent... more heads being sliced in half, etc.

Since we have two dissimilar (but titled the same) Hunter X Hunter threads running in tandem, I'm altering titles to reflect what topics are being discussed since I don't find any easy way to merge one into the other.

Hunter X Hunter liscensed by Viz

Postby Rauken » Mon Nov 29, 2004 11:45 pm

I heard rumors that hunterXhunter was just liecensed by Viz (yay for Shonen Jump!):
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=5755

I guess we'll all know come April.

I don't know much about the series since I didn't want to spoil it for myself (which I have a bad habit of doing), but I'm a big fan of YYH.
