Peace Maker Kurogane

Is it worth seeing? Is it decent? I was looking for a review, but apparently it hasn't been reviewed yet... So has anyone seen it? Mainly I'm concerned with content, it makes or breaks a series for me, followed by storyline/characters, with animation as a close but still third... So what say you all?

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

I've seen the first DVD and read the first manga, but I'm really not sure what to say. It has it's moments, but I'm really not sure where they are going with it.

Being a samurai show, it has plenty of violence but no sex or nudity so far. There is one guy who is a little light in the loafers, though.

I've seen most of this series, and I really enjoyed it. To talk to a person who knows EVERYTHING about this, you should PM Yeito. She has the series, and has seen it 39485 times. o_o;

never seen it either but heard it's a pretty good samurai anime since it's especially clean in terms of nudity and sex. a much more clean anime than compared to...say, Samurai Champloo.

Well, I watched the first episode last night and it was pretty much what I had enticipated. Peace Maker seams to me a bit like a cross between Kenshin and Bleach. It has the light hearted-silly moments plus the serious battles of Kenshin while also giving you a plethera of sub-characters to grow story from.

All in all, it seamed like a fun little show with some good fight sceens, and mysterious characters. While the plot seams initially thin, it has the potential to create a good enough footing for some more interesting developments later on.

Note that while Peace Maker doesnt give you the idea that there are going to be 'blood-fountains' it doesnt pull many punches in the violence area either. After all, being a samurai show, some one is bound to get cut up.

Also, as some have said there hasnt been any sexual referances, nudity, or pervy camera shots or jokes. Though there is bound to be atleast one lecherous character (as is the case with most shounen titles), lets just hope its not something they expound on very much.

I for one, am considering looking more into this series.

Carpe Diem! ;)

I've seen the whole series, and it was a while ago but I remember thinking that it started out really well but became progressively more violent. The ending is where you get the bloodbath.

On the other hand, the character development is good, and the plot draws you in more and more as it goes on. If you were OK with the level of violence in the Rurouni Kenshin OAVs you should be OK with Peacemaker Kurogane.

Unfortunately there IS some sex though it's offscreen. One of the female characters turns out to be quite the mata hari type, using seduction to get information. There's also implied rape. One of the little girls is in training at a brothel too. Nothing happens to her in the course of the show, but it's a given that when she gets older she'll have to become a prostitute.

And then there's Okita...they made him appear so feminine that it creeped me out a bit!

Those were the only bad things I can remember offhand, sorry!

It is a pretty good show. I need to get back into it. I'm pretty sure there was a manga too.

Ummm, yeah.... So I watched a bit more of it and I would have to agree with avidrkfan in that there is a lot more questionable material then I orriginally enticipated. It strange just how far the show swings from a child-like sillyness to some serious violence (I was wrong about the blood not being fountain-ish, sorry :sweat: ).

I suppose this is to illustrate the main characters innocance and nature as a child, while also existing in a violent and cruel world...

Now Im not sure if I can recomend it. I would definately use a bit more caution then I orriginally thought nessisary. The decision still rests on your shoulders though.

EDIT: There is a manga, but Im not sure if its been officially released in english yet... *goes to check* Well it does seam to be licanced by ADV manga and currently published by TokyoPop in Germany... I dont know much about it. There is a prequel to this though (only in manga format).

This is like my favorite show. o_o

Yes, as someone aforementioned, the bloodbath doesn't really appear until the end. The third to last, and second to last, episodes are the ones with all the bloody battles.
....
But it was so awesome xD!!!! The animation was topnotch in that last fight scene, and everything was set to the tiniest detail. It was so beautiful. *-* My favorite part of the whole series. ......

Anyway >_>; Not that I'm blathering or anything. Yes there is a manga. Its kind of confusing. Let's see if I can explain it...

There are two seasons of the manga. ' Peacemaker ' and ' Peacemaker Kurogane '. PK is the second season, and is not complete as of yet. There are some parts of the second season that they put into the anime (which is why it gets confusing at times) but the anime is mostly based on the first season. There hasn't been any mention of continuing the anime to fit the second season storyline ( sadly ;.; )

Anyway, I love this anime (as you probably guessed) so of course I would reccomend it to anyone who was interested. There was an implied sex scene between Ayumu and a badguy to get info, but... it was so sad ;.; I'm not gonna say what happened, but it was sad. -_-

And Saya is in more of a Geisha house ( I think, not 100% sure ) than a brothel. They don't actually hint that she'd have to do those kinds of things when she's older, just that she's already had the path of a geisha chosen for her. Therefore, she has to work as one unless someone can pay off her debt to the house. Akesato was (sort of) in the same situation. Although it is true that when a girl attempts to become geisha she has to go through mizuage, which is basically the selling of her virginity. But other than that they are never actually FORCED to do anything like that. >_>;

Now that I've blathered again about some nonsense x_x Im sorry. Hope I helped a little.
