The Mosquito Ring Tone

Postby Linksquest » Wed Jun 14, 2006 4:45 pm

A new Ringtone developed so that Adults cannot hear it and only the students using it can hear it. I just tried this and it really worked.

Here is a link to the site where you can test it for yourself: http://saunderslog.com/2006/06/12/the-mosquito-ring-tone-this-adult-can-hear-it/

My parents couldn't hear the sound!

I'd heard about this a few weeks ago, actually... (why can't they just put it on vibrate?)

I can only vaguely hear the 18kHz. I need to turn it up though.
I can hear the other ones with decreasing amounts of attenuation.

Also, nice 'pure' sine wave.... (even though the dB scale is huge)

Err... if you did it to hurt your dog on purpose... then your niceness will be in jeopardy!

Ah, that's why you have a headache CR!

My mum can only hear the two lower ones.

The mosquito sound file isn't very clean.... and it's certainly not the claimed 17kHz either...

(I wonder how many dB/dec my hearing drops of at...)

I'm sorry. I think it's so weird that I can hear it and my parents can't. My parents made me play it a couple times, and didn't believe we could hear it at first,

I just played it near my dog, and I think she might bite, so I'm turning that off. XD

She looks confused, and her head is swiveling. XDDD

My parents can hear it.

weird, someone at work was messing with this on his laptop and I couldnt hear it at all but another guy could. All I could equate it to was the whine of a monitor that had gone to sleep mode, but thats after I listened to it through his headphones; other than that all the computers around us drowned it out.
but the .wavs at that site linksquest posted are quite clear to me at home with one computer running (open case and 5 fans as well)

wow that's clever! XD My mom can hear the Mosquito ringtone, but not the pure sounds (the last one in his little samples)

I don't think I'd want that as a ringtone though. I'd never hear it.
