I'd also recommend Pet Shop of Horrors. Pretty decent, I have a review on the manga (the anime is cleaner than the manga, so don't worry. And only 4 episodes.)

May I suggest Air (unlicensed)? It's a pretty clean anime, 12 episodes long, and really fantastic, I thought. There may be some religious stuff you may not like (reincarnation is a part of the plotline), but there's a wonderfully detailed review in the anime review section written by Osaka that might help you out. :)

Also, I'll have to highly reccommend Full Moon wo Sagashite. :thumb: It's become my favorite series, and it really is fantastic! It is a shoujo/romance/magical girl-ish title (more of the older magical girl style, though, since fighting and saving the world aren't involved in the story at all), but the story is incredible. There are shinigami in it, but they're not exactly like the shinigami you may have seen in other series like Bleach. I reccommend you take a look at the review on it by Ashley and Gypsy in the anime review section, it's quite helpful. I should point out that the series is now licensed, and the first DVD will be availiable this month (June 16th or 27th, one of those dates...); however, the sub is availiable for you to preview on youtube, so you may want to test it and see if you like it first. Or you could just rent it, whichever you prefer. :)

Hope this helped! :thumb:

Thanks for the additional recomendations everyone. I actually watched the first episode of Haibane Renmei this morning and Im pretty happy with it. Right from the beginning it seamed filled with sybolism, though I havent quite figured out what it all means yet. But I am only on the first episode.

Anyway, great recomendation Orenji. Im definately getting the rest of this one. ^_^

RD, Full Moon wo Sagashite is another series that caught my eye as intersting... But Im pretty sure my wife would whack me over the head if I was watching magical girl anime. Though Im sure its very good.
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

My suggestion is that you Google Anime Planet and use their Recommended Viewing List. What you do is you either type in the name of your favorite series or else look it up on the alphabetical list and then when you find it look at the recommended list they provide for each title.(Though some titles such as Betterman don't have recommended lists.)Each series has a brief synopsis,
viewer recommendation and screencaps so you can see wheter or not it wouldbe something you would like to watch.
Also another plus for using Anime Planet is that they also have a list of online stores that sell nonbootleg anime, manga, etc.

Maybe I will check that out. But there are plenty of places to find recomendations for anime online. I just wanted to hear what everyone here thought would be worth wild.

Besides, it can be hard to get an acurate idea of what you are getting into when all you have to read is the worlds perspective. I appreciate the input I have gotten here.

Thanks for the idea though. ^_^

Oh, don't worry about that, the magical girl aspect is VERY small. XD I figured I'd mention it, since it is "sort of" there, but it's hardly even noticable once you get into the meat of the series, which is a fantastic story of the will to live, suicide, regret, second chances, etc. It's a very good series! :thumb:

Well, maybe I will pull one episode and see how it plays out. Maybe my wife will enjoy it and not have the heart to whack me... To hard... ;)

Oh... I found it... It looks kinda interesting (and is rated pretty high) but it also says: "May contain sex, drugs, and extreme graphic violence." Which are somthings Im not really interested in... Thanks anyway. ^_^

Oh yeah. Monster definately has some nudity/sexual content etc. *Points to CAA Review*
kaji wrote:Im always up for those phychological stories (as long as they are not to creepy). Have you seen it through to the end? I noted that the main characters apear to be angle-like in apearance... Is there anything religiously offensive? I might just check this one out. ^_^

In that case, Boogiepop Phantom is a good suggestion, mirroring what K. Ayato said. It's quite a spooky but good series. Serial Experiments Lain is another possibility, but I think that has some sexual references.

And I second Full Moon wo sagashite. I, a guy, TOTALLY recommend it.

Lain doesn't have any more sexual references than Boogiepop does, at least to the extent of my knowledge.

Someone mentioned Genshiken... I haven't seen the anime, but in the manga, there's a hentai joke on almost every page. Maybe that's not in the anime. I hope not; it could have been really good otherwise.

Maybe try to finish up some of the older studio ghibli releases?
Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Porco Rosso for starters.

For ovas, How about some more macross? There's 4 more series after the original to watch. There IS the occasional nudity (macross zero) that is there for artistic and NOT fanservice reasons. I'd particularly recommend Macross Plus and Macross Zero. They're the most.. um. accessible. Macross 7 is really only for the hardcore fans, and comes across as a bit dorky for those that really don't love the macross universe. Macross II was a big Meh.

For tv series, how about Jungle wa Itsumo Hare Nochi Guu? I think it's being released under the name Hare+Guu, but I don't follow legal releases.... Quite good comedy.

Noir. It's an excellent anime. There are two bath scenes, but nothing is shown.

Howl's moving castle is an awesome movie.

You've said you've watched some of Black Cat, if I recall. I reccommend reading the manga instead of watching the anime. I'd give it a 6/10 at best. But that's my opinion.
