Except that there are some people who take the number 666 too seriously. In all seriousness I suspect that there are Christians and others who approach 666 just like the number 13,overly superstitiously.
In any case nothing serious happened yesterday except my friend in Georgia said they had some rain when she was walking in town.
Also,I agree that a lot of people were using it as a marketing tool as both Ann Coulter and Tim LaHay and Jerry Jenkins were using the date to hawk their latest books on Fox News Channel.

I mean, the decade doesn't start on the x1 does it? Well, maybe you would say it does by saying it starts exactly 10 years (and so forth) from 1... I say the decade starts when the number in yyxy the x changes, the century starts with the number yxyy and the millenium starts xyyy etc...

I think the reason for the claim of 01 being the start of the millenium was because when the system of BC/AD was created, there was no year 0. So reckoning would go so that the year after 1BC was AD1. So we either have to have a first century of 99 years and a first millenium of 999 years or we have to say that the first century ended in AD100 and the second century began in AD101.

People have problems with both systems of course. I do understand where you're coming from though. The natural tendency is to sort things from 0-9 instead of 1-10. I tend to think of it the same way.

Lets see, one superstition I remember was that 13 was supposed to symbolize Judas Because Jesus and the 12 disciples were 13, and the 13th was supposed to be Judas, the betrayer. Supposedly in pagan numerology there were other reasons.

It seems though that prior to the 19th century, the superstition of Friday 13th was not known.

Which reminds me of that camp classic "Saturday the 14th"

Hell was named that because its founder thought the land was "hellish," hard to cultivate, hot, etc.

So says that Emily Rose movie. I have a friend who often wakes up at 3 a.m. and freaks out. She lives next door to her mother (separate houses), and she runs over there and spends the night because she gets so scared.

We really like to talk about 3 a.m. in front of her. She gets goosebumps just talking about it.

Perhaps this thread should go the Goof Off forum, but we could also all just elevate our level of discussion just slightly.

And no, I'm not asking.

Well here's a more SERIOUS note:

So in the local paper today (heard about it yesterday too) some 15 year old kid from the high school made violent threats on his Nexopia site, and then said on 6/6/6 he'd "take down all who hated him" :/ Apparently some were nervous of attending high school yesterday :/ Cops got him though and he was locked up and charged, and then deemed "not a danger to the public".

Just goes to show the advantages of simply being nice to other people^^

not sure how true this is, but the man on the radio said he wasn't making it up, so I took his word for it. D:

He was saying how yesterday there was a baby born that was six pounds, six ounces, was born at 6 AM, and his parents named him Damien. D:

Did anyone else see the article from Worldnet Daily (I think, anyone know that sites level of credibilty?) that discussed the likelyhood that the number of the beast is actually 616? Supposedly, the more ancient texts have that number written on them quite clearly and whether the number was 666 or 616 was an issue of debate among the early church fathers. I personally would find the situation hysterically funny if people had a near phobic aversion to the wrong number.
