Does anyone know this anime? I think is one of the most beautiful show I've ever seen! Before watching, I thought it was too childish for me, but now is one of my favourite!

I heard a little bit about it. It looked pretty interesting. It's about a ballerina, right?

I've watched the first few episodes of it. I love the art, it's so cutesy, and the story's amazing!

Yes, it's about ballet XDDD Ahiru is a duck who was turned in a girl by a spell. Her dream is to make her prince(who lost is heart) smile dancing, but she is not good enough. But she can also trasform into a very good dancer, Princess Tutu.

It's also quite dark sometimes. I watched all the 26 eps in no time.

A ballet anime? Are you serious? I took ballet for 15 years. That's awesome!

I watched this three-four years ago, and I can't watch it again because it would make me too sad. I dunno, after watching the ending, you can't watch the first season without getting depressed somewhat. But I loved it so much! >< I made a thread on this a while back.

I want to hurt the people for bashing this because of the title. ;______;

I have to say, even being a dancer, the title turned me off to it at first. It just sounded like it would be childish. But after hearing various good reviews, I changed my mind about it.

Yeeeeah. I admit the title is...trite. Thinking about it now, I should redirect my annoyance at the people who made it, even though they're Japanese and their concept of English is skewed anyway.

I would definantly not recommend it for youngsters. It is a very very serious drama anime.

Oh my gosh....and for those of you who are fans of it and have seen it..I found this amazing AMV.

I'm in the middle of watching this with my daughters (16 and 13 yo) as the DVD releases become available on Blockbuster Online...we've been through DVD 4 so we have seen the first 13-ep season. And yeah, it's dark in places, but I'd say not too dark for the average 12 year old or so.

It's really very unique with the mixture of ironic humor (such as the animal-people), slapstick, and so much taken from classic fairy tales and classic ballets.

And...I do know we have a sad ending coming up (sigh).

I totally agree. After you see the end, it makes it too hard to rewatch since you know about the sad ending that is coming. :sniffle:

Also as a warning to people, the series gets darker as it goes. It's definately not a kids' anime, although I think it is fine for a 12 year old or older.

I really liked the music in Princess Tutu. It's pretty different from the usual anime background music, and definately shows more of a classical influence. :grin:

I'd agree. Also depending on what the 12 year old can handle (If they're mature or enough or what not). But the series takes many twists after a while, and it does gets darker as the series goes on.

I downloaded the full clear version of that AMV on the girl's site, and the timing is really good, and the quality is crystal clear! This AMV truly amazes me.
